Today, Wednesday, 15/3/2022, the Faculty of Specific Education organizes a symposium entitled "How earthquakes occur in the earth's crust, their dependencies and effects on the earth, and how to deal with these crises to avoid any dangers arising from them", under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Abdelrazek Youssef Desouky, President of the University; Prof. Dr. Mohammed Mustafa Abd El-Aal, Vice President for Education and students’ affairs; and Prof. Dr. Ismail El-Qon, Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Research, in the presence of Prof. Dr. Amany Shaker, Dean of the Faculty of Specific Education, and Prof. Dr. Suhair Magdy Gerges, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development, and the presence of staff members.
For his part, Dr. Hussein Tawfiq Al-Badrawy, Professor of Geology at the Faculty of Science, indicates that earthquakes, or what is known as earthquakes, are one of the natural disasters in which humans have no intervene and may leave behind disasters and material and human losses, but the flexibility of society in dealing with these earthquakes may be mitigated in a way large scale of these losses.
The symposium is lectures by Dr. Muhammad Rashad Al-Ganzoury, Director of the Environmental Affairs Department in the General divan of Kafrelsheikh Governorate and a member of the Scientific Committee for Monitoring Climate Change Phenomenon in the Council of Ministers. He starts his talk about earthquakes as being considered a violent natural phenomenon, and one of the natural disasters that cannot be prevented, and earthquakes are defined as sudden, rapid vibrations that affect the earth's crust when the rocks that were subjected to stress (expansion) explode. These vibrations may not be large, and they may be very destructive.
He adds that many studies, reports and experiences around the world confirm that panic and lack of proper behavior by people when an earthquake occurs leads to an increase in the number of losses. On the contrary, when there is prior psychological preparation and readiness to beware of the dangers of an earthquake that is by informing people of the important instructions to be followed during and after an earthquake, and educating them by spreading information about the dangers of earthquakes and the precautions they should take.
