PhD Eligibility Criteria

To register for a doctoral degree, the student must have a master’s degree in the subject of specialty with at least a good grade from one of the universities of the Arab Republic of Egypt that is subject to Egyptian Universities Regulation Law No. 49 of 1972, or from any of the universities recognized by the Supreme Council of Universities.

Required Documents

1- Enrollment request

2- A bachelor's degree showing the general grade and the grade for the subject of specialization

3- Certificate of passing the compulsory training year

4- Birth certificate (electronic)

5- A copy of the national identity card after reviewing the original

6- Employer approval for registration and full-time study

6- Military service condition (for males)

7- 6 recent photographs (white background)

8- Master's degree with grades indicated.

 

Requirements of PhD degree

1-      Successful completion of the first and second semester exams and fulfilling the credit hours for each semester.

2-      Acceptance of the thesis by a decision of the Scientific Committee formed to discuss it and formed by a decision of the College Council after the proposal of the Department Council and the approval of the Graduate Studies Council of the university.

3-      The doctorate degree is not granted until two research papers have been published in internationally refereed scientific journals with an impact factor

Study Plan for PhD

The duration of the study is two and a half years (five semesters starting after enrollment in the degree.

The total requirements for obtaining a doctoral degree are not less than 60 credit hours distributed as follows

·         The first part:

One semester: 8 credit hours and includes the courses that serve the specialization branch, provided that they are determined by the degree-granting department, and the help of other concerned departments is used to coordinate and participate in teaching and exams.

·         The second part

          (The second, third, and fourth semester): starts with the beginning of the second semester, and success in the first part is required in full, and lasts for three semesters, with 36 credit hours.

·         Thesis: its duration is (4) semesters: 16 credit hours, and the research project (protocol) is recorded at the beginning of the second semester, and it is not discussed until two years after accepting its registration from the date of approval of the College Council, provided that it succeeds in the second part of Ph.D.

 

Each department determines the academic courses, the clinical or practical training program, and the percentage of credit hours for each of these courses and activities separately, provided that they are approved from the College Council.

Tuition Fees

·   Fees are collected at the start of each stage, as well as registration fees for each credit hour at any stage of the study.

·   Fees are also collected for discussing master’s and doctoral theses, as well as for applying for registration in the exam.

·   All annual fees are determined according to the rules in force at Kafrelsheikh University.

·   The student is not considered enrolled in postgraduate studies unless tuition fees are paid.

·   The student is also obligated to pay the fees annually.

·   The student can refund the tuition fees before the end of the eighth week of the semester, in the event that he wishes to withdraw and not complete the study
