Eligibility Criteria

1- The student must have a bachelor’s degree in medicine and surgery from one of the universities of the Arab Republic of Egypt that is subject to Egyptian Universities Regulation Law No. 49 1972, or holders of academic degrees that have been equivalent from the Supreme Council of Universities with at least a good general grade after making sure that they fulfill the conditions for enrollment in studying the required program

2. That the student has spent the training year.

 

Academic year and Application Deadline

              The application for registration for a master's degree takes place once a year, from mid-July to mid-August. The result of admission is announced in September, and the study begins in October of each year.

 

Academic year structure

1. Part One (one semester) (first): 8 credit hours.

2. The second part (two semesters) (Second and Third): 20 credit hours

3. Thesis: (fourth semester): 10 credit hours.

4. Various scientific activities: two credit hours.

Admission Requirements

2. That the student has spent the training year.

3. The resident doctor in one of the university hospitals, as well as the demonstrator in one of the departments of basic medical sciences, have the right to apply for enrollment for a master's degree in the semester following his employment.

4. The doctor of the Ministry of Health and other health authorities, the third doctor, the free doctor and other non-resident doctors are entitled to apply for registration for a master's degree in one of the clinical branches.

5. The number of doctors (other than resident doctors) who are allowed to be registered is determined according to an annual plan for each department.

6. Preference is made between applicants according to the cumulative total of degrees obtained by the doctor in the university degree. In the event of equality, a doctor with a diploma in the specialty is preferred. In the case of equality, a doctor with a higher degree in the subject of specialty is preferred.

Requirements for master’s degree

         To obtain a master's degree, success in three parts is required:

1.        Passing an exam held after the end of the first part and completing the credit hours

2.        Passing an exam held after the end of the second part and completing the credit hours

3.        Acceptance of the thesis by a decision of the Scientific Committee formed to discuss it and formed by a decision of the College Council after the proposal of the Department Council and the approval of the Graduate Studies Council of the university.

4.         A master's degree is not granted unless a research paper has been published in an        internationally peer-reviewed scientific journal with an impact factor

Study Plan for master’s degree

 

Obtaining a master’s degree in a medical specialty requires studying (40 credit hours) with success in all courses with a grade of at least C and a cumulative average of no less than 2.44.

1. Part One (one semester) (first):

·          One semester: 8 credit hours. It starts after the date of enrollment for the master's degree.

·          The department that proposes to grant the degree identifies the courses that must be taught in the first part and participates with the scientific department or departments related to these courses in determining the scientific content and developing the course description and study plan.

2. The second part (two semesters) (Second and Third):

·          Two semesters, 20 credit hours

·          Starts with the beginning of the second semester, and success is required in the first part, and it is devoted to studying the basic and elective courses in the subject of specialty, based on the proposal of the degree-granting department council and the approval of the college council.

·          Clinical or practical training is an essential part of the degree, and the relevant departments prepare their own training program.

·          The resident or demonstrator spends an actual training period of no less than 24 months, starting from the date of enrollment for the master's degree.

3. Thesis: (fourth semester)

·          Obtaining a master's degree in one of the medical specialties, in addition to classroom and clinical training, requires conducting academic / applied research from an integrated scientific thesis estimated at the equivalent of 10 credit hours.

·          The thesis is enrolled at the beginning of the second semester after passing the first part, and it is not discussed until six months after passing the second part, and one year after its registration, on the approval of the College Council or its representative.

·          The progress of the thesis is observed by a periodic report every six months submitted by the main supervisor and approved by the department council or his representative and submitted to the college's postgraduate studies department.

4. Various scientific activities: two credit hours.

·          These activities include, for example, attending scientific conferences, discussing scientific theses, participating in scientific seminars, training courses, and workshops related to the field of specialty, provided that the student submits supporting and documenting documents for carrying out these activities (logbook).

 

 

Tuition Fees

·   Fees are collected at the start of each stage, as well as registration fees for each credit hour at any stage of the study.

·   Fees are also collected for discussing master’s and doctoral theses, as well as for applying for registration in the exam.

·   All annual fees are determined according to the rules in force at Kafrelsheikh University.

·   The student is not considered enrolled in postgraduate studies unless tuition fees are paid.

·   The student is also obligated to pay the fees annually.

·   The student can refund the tuition fees before the end of the eighth week of the semester, in the event that he wishes to withdraw and not complete the study
