sector announces about the sixth annual international Arab workshop for
Biotechnologies organized by the Biotechnology Association – Union of Arab
Council of Scientific Research in cooperation with Scientific Research and
Technology Academy and Arabic Association for Genetic Engineering and
Biotechnology entitled “plant genetics resources: conservation, documentation
and proper utilization" on 24-25 August 2015
Under the authority of the Prof Dr
Sheriff Hamad, the minister of Scientific Research; Prof Dr Mubarak el Magzoub,
Secretary –General of unions of Arab Scientific Research councils; Prof Dr
Mahmoud Sakr, the head of Scientific Research and Technology Academy and Prof
Dr Ashraf Shalaan, the head of National Center of Researches.
The workshop represents in the
following themes:
1)
The
role of biotechnologies in the conservation and documentation of plant genetic
resources and benefit from them
2)
The
exploitation of genetic resources in economic and community development in the
areas of "Agriculture and food - health and medicine - bioenergy"
3)
Genetically
modified plants and molecular breeding
This workshop
aims to review the most important results of Arab and International scientific
research in the field of biotechnologies and apply them in the different
fields, but this year, it will focus on plant genetic resources and the role of
biotechnology in the preservation, documentation and proper exploitation.
