The Department of Art Education at the Faculty of Specific Education was established in 1991, concurrently with the establishment of the Faculty. The Department is committed to preparing qualified graduates in the field of Art Education to meet the needs of educational institutions and small-scale industrial enterprises. It equips students with the knowledge, skills, and professional competencies required in accordance with international standards and the evolving demands of educational and industrial sectors, while fostering a strong awareness of community issues, environmental sustainability, and professional ethics.

Graduates of the Department are qualified to teach and train students in a wide range of artistic disciplines, including textile arts, printmaking, sculpture, ceramics, drawing and painting, metalwork and jewelry design, woodworking, as well as various forms of applied and fine arts.

The undergraduate program extends over four academic years, after which students are awarded the Bachelor's Degree in Art Education. The Department is also committed to enhancing the professional and academic qualifications of its graduates by offering Postgraduate Diploma, Master's, and Doctoral programs.

In addition, the Department contributes to the advancement of applied arts through scientific research, community service, and environmental development by providing professional consultations and collaborating with various institutions. It also seeks to enrich the community's aesthetic awareness by promoting public art, displaying artistic works in public spaces, and contributing to the creation of a more beautiful, civilized, and culturally vibrant environment throughout Kafr El-Sheikh Governorate.

The Department is currently chaired by Prof. Dr. Naglaa Hosny El-Ashraf, Dean of the Faculty.
