Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, approved the result of the unified announcement of the scholarship plan for the fourth year 2020/2021 of the eighth five-year plan 2017-2022, which Includes sending to foreign missions - joint supervision - international post-doctoral assignments - master's.
This announcement was submitted for the first time with all partners on a unified electronic platform for the cultural affairs and missions sector. 388 male and female researchers from various universities, institutes and research centers have submitted for the advertisement, and 322 researchers have met the conditions, and scientific committees have been held to review research proposals and meet with the applicants over the course of 60 arbitration sessions involving more than 79 technical members
A statement issued by the Ministry of Higher Education indicated that 223 applicants were accepted in various types of scholarships, distributed as follows: 70 foreign missions, 39 joint supervision, 112 post-doctoral scientific assignments, 2 masters ’award to Japan, and the share of researchers was approximately 44% of Total researchers for this year.
It is worth noting that the missions that were approved included the most prestigious universities and research institutes in 31 countries, on top of which, the United Kingdom, with 71 missions, followed by 33 missions of the United States of America, 28 missions to Japan and 19 missions to Germany.

Mansoura University came at the forefront of the universities that obtained a number of scholarships, because it obtained 35 missions, Assiut University received 32 scholarships, Cairo University 26 missions, Tanta University 23 scholarships, and Zagazig University 22 missions.
It is noteworthy that half of the total number of missions this year were granted to students in the medical sector to reach 126 missions, in addition to 32 missions in the field of agriculture and food security, and 11 missions in the field of new and renewable energy, in addition to a number of missions in the water axis - the environment axis - The strategic industrial technologies axis - the information, communication and space technology axis - the teaching and learning development axis - the investment, trade and transport axis, and the social and human sciences axis.
