The Progress of Kafrelsheikh University Classification within “Webometrics” in January 2016 Report
The president Prof Dr Maged el Kemary said that Kafrelsheikh University has ranked progress in “Webometrics” classification as it jumped to the rank No 6 over the level of Egyptian Universities whose numbers are 63 governmental universities; the rank No 14 Arab among 971 universities at the Arab level; No 20 at the level of African Universities among 1417 universities and No 1541 at the level of International Universities among 11996 universities.
No Egyptian or Saudi or Israeli or Iranian or Turkish Universities has not appeared in the classification within the top one hundred world-class university and Cairo University (the best Egyptian university) comes in the second place at the Arabic level, the fifth level at the level of Africa and 587 at the worldwide. US Harvard University has topped the world ranking followed by US Standford University while King Saud University, Saudi Arabia, has topped the Arab world and No 283 worldwide and Cape Town University in South Africa has topped at the level of African universities and 326 worldwide
As well, Tokyo University has topped the Asia Classification and ranked No 40 internationally followed by Beijing University in China and ranked No 46 worldwide while British Oxford University has topped the European classification and ranked No 12 globally advanced to Cambridge University which fell to the second place and ranked No 13 globally
Many institutions specializes for, across the world, the classification of universities and among the most prominent international classification, there are “Times” ranking, “Shanghai” ranking as well as “Webometrics” ranking which follows “Cybermetrics” groups of researches in Madrid subordinate to scientific information center, one of the institutions of the supreme council of researches, the major institutions of scientific research in Spain. The classification depends on four indicators of evaluation, summed up in four criteria and they are: size intended to educational and research sources in university website by 20% percent; visibility intended to the number of internet websites that refers to the university website and represents 50%; rich files through the size of databases on university website through google and represents 15% and scholar obtained from Google Scholar and represents 15% and the classification “Webometrics” is done every six months and the results are announced at the end of January and July of each year.
