As part of the university’s efforts to enhance cultural and heritage awareness among its students, and to promote a sense of belonging to the homeland, and in cooperation with the Ministry of Youth and Sports “Youth Train”, a number of university students participate in a trip to the cities of Luxor and Aswan, as part of the “Know Your Country” program, under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Abdelrazek Desouky, President of the University; Prof. Dr. Mohamed Abdelaal, Vice President of the University for Education and Students’ Affairs, and Dr. Rushdy El Adawy, General Coordinator of Student Activities at the University, and supervised by Ehab Gad, General Manager of the General Administration of Student Welfare at the University.
Prof. Dr. Abdelrazek Desouky, President of the University, confirms the importance of these trips in enhancing cultural and heritage awareness among students, pointing out that the University continues to support the “Know Your Country” program, which provides an opportunity for university students to discover Egyptian heritage and culture, enhance their understanding of cultural and heritage issues, and develop their national awareness by introducing them to Egypt’s ancient history and unique archaeological landmarks.
Otherwise, Prof. Dr. Mohamed Abdelaal, Vice President of the University for Education and Students’ Affairs, points out that the trip is held within the plan of student activities at the university to enhance communication between university students and develop their social and cultural skills, by combining entertainment and education in a way that contributes to broadening their horizons and strengthening their connection to Egyptian civilization.
It is worth noting that the Ministry of Youth and Sports has allocated mid-year vacation groups for university students within the Egyptian state's interest in youth, especially university students, as they are the most effective segment within Egyptian society, which contributes to building the new republic, pointing out that the "Know Your Country" project aims to get youth acquainted with tourist and archaeological landmarks and develop a spirit of loyalty and belonging among them, in addition to investing the youth's free time, getting to know each other and exchanging experiences among the various youth of the governorates, encouraging domestic tourism and working to revive the economic movement in various Egyptian tourist cities, especially in the governorates of Luxor and Aswan.
