Prof. Dr. Abdelrazek Desouky, President of the University, honors the winning faculties in the Best Environmentally Friendly and Sustainable Faculty Competition, according to the evaluation of each faculty’s grades for the criteria presented by the various faculties, which reflects the university’s interest in achieving sustainable development and Egypt’s Vision 2030, motivating faculties to be transformed into distinguished environmentally friendly faculties, and enhancing commitment to environmental sustainability standards, within the framework of the Egyptian state’s efforts and the directives of the political leadership to transition to a green economy and achieve comprehensive development.
Prof. Dr. Abdelrazek Desouky announced that the Faculty of Science wins the first place; the Faculty of Agriculture wins the second place; the Faculty of Engineering wins the third place; the Faculty of Pharmacy wins the fourth place, while the Faculty of Specific Education wins the fifth place.
The President also honors the members of the committee entrusted with studying and evaluating the standards files submitted by the various faculties, which are represented by: Dr. Enas Al- Gendy, Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, for the transfer standard inside and outside the university; Dr. Naglaa Al-Ashraf, Dean of the Faculty of Specific Education, for the Water Management Standard; Dr. Sabah Abu Al-Futouh, Dean of the Faculty of Nursing, for the Infrastructure and Risk Management standard; Dr. Mohammad Qotb, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Environment for the Middle Delta, for the faculty and Community standard; Dr. Eman Saad, the vice Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, for the Energy and Climate Change standard; Dr. Al-Sayed Bilal, Professor of Agricultural Microbiology, for the Educational Systems, Learning, and Scientific Research standard and Dr. Mahmoud Hegazy, a professor in the Horticulture Department, for the waste management standard.
Prof. Dr. Abdelrazek Desouky, President of the University, stresses that the university aims to be environmentally friendly in all files, such as waste and water, scientific research, climate change and crises management, and achieving Egypt’s Vision 2030. The university also works to encourage and raise students’ awareness of environmental issues, which will reflect positively on society to contribute to building a better and more sustainable future for future generations.
Dr. Amany Shaker, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development, explains that the goal of the competition is to reach distinguished (environmentally friendly) faculties, by measuring the extent of these faculties’ commitment to participating in developing environmentally friendly infrastructure and the extent to which they take into account infrastructure standards, energy and climate change standards, waste management standards, water management standards, transportation standards within the university, environmental quality standards, crisis management standards, learning and scientific research standards, and the university’s vision and mission for environmental preservation and sustainability.
