The President participates in the Launch of the “ICESCO Youth Year” in the Administrative Capital

Prof. Dr. Abdelrazek Desouky, President of the University, participates in the major international celebration organized by the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO) in cooperation with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, to launch the “ICESCO Year of Youth,” and it is opened by Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, in the presence of Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Chairman of the Egyptian National Commission for Education, Science and Culture; Dr. Salem bin Muhammad Al-Malik, Director-General of the Islamic World Organization for Education, Science and Culture, and a number of ministers of Islamic countries and ambassadors, heads of international bodies and organizations, and presidents of public, private, and technological universities, in the New Administrative Capital.

The opening activities begins with reviewing a documentary film about the activities of ICESCO, followed by a speech by Dr. Salem Al-Malik, Director General of ICESCO, then a documentary film about the Egyptian state’s efforts to support youth and ways of innovation and creativity, followed by a speech by Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, about Egypt’s presidency of the 2023 ICESCO Conference for Youth.

The President indicates that the celebration includes a number of important topics, including ICESCO’s vision in the field of building the capabilities of the youth of the Islamic world, as well as the efforts of the Egyptian state in nurturing and empowering youth during the era of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, in addition to the role of the Ministry of Higher Education in supporting creators and innovators, the “ICESCO Youth Year” aims to build the capabilities of young people in the organization’s member states and develop their skills, in coordination with the competent authorities in each country and to help them develop their capabilities and exploit their enthusiasm and energies for what benefits them and the human community in general. It also aims to build capabilities to keep pace with technological developments taking place in the world, increase awareness of various issues, build integrated personalities, and contribute to consolidating the values of coexistence, peace and civilizational dialogue.

 

It is noteworthy that the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO) is a specialized international organization working within the framework of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, concerned with the fields of education, science, culture and communication in Islamic countries, to support and strengthen ties between member states, its headquarters is located in the Moroccan city of Rabat, and its membership includes 54 countries (17 countries from the African region, 21 countries from the Arab region, 14 countries from the Asian region, and two countries from the Latin American region), in addition to two states as observers, the Arab Republic of Egypt joined it in 1984. The organization aims to achieve interconnection, integration and strategic coordination between the countries of the Islamic world in its areas of competence, in addition to strengthening the capabilities of educational organizations and improving their indicators in member states, in addition to stimulating the comprehensive cultural development of the peoples of the Islamic world.
