On Tuesday, 25 November 2025, Prof. Ismail Ismail Ibrahim, Acting President of Kafrelsheikh University, accompanied by Prof. Amany Shaker, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, launches the activities of the “16 Days of compacting Violence against Women” campaign. The event is organized by the Community Service and Environmental Development Sector and held at the Faculty of Physical Education
The activities underscore the university’s role in raising societal awareness about women’s issues, supporting their rights, developing female students’ capacities, and consolidating a culture of respect for women within both the university environment and the surrounding community.
During the event, Prof. Ismail Ismail Ibrahim confirms that Kafrelsheikh University places great importance on women’s issues and their empowerment, emphasizing that combating violence against women is not merely an awareness campaign but an institutional doctrine and belief embedded in all of the university’s educational, research, and community plans.
The President points out that empowering and protecting women from all forms of violence is an integral part of the university’s vision and mission toward society. “We are committed to providing a safe and supportive university environment for female students and staff members, and we ensure that our male and female students and faculty play a pioneering role in spreading a culture of respect for women and their rights,” he says.
He also reaffirms the university’s keenness to actively participate in national and international awareness campaigns that enhance understanding of women’s issues. Throughout the 16-day campaign, training programs and activities will be held to promote equality and empowerment and pave the way for a more equitable educational environment.
Otherwise, Prof. Amany Shaker, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, confirms that the sector gives special attention to the 16 Days campaign against violence toward women and girls. She explains that the timing—starting on the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women and ending on Human Rights Day—is deliberate, reminding everyone that violence against women is not just a social issue but a flagrant violation of human rights, and that protecting women is an essential part of safeguarding human dignity and fundamental rights.
Dr. Shaker adds that the 16 Days campaign is not a symbolic event but a powerful message confirming that the university is a major partner in protecting women’s rights and providing them with psychological, social, and academic support. “We are working to prepare an aware generation capable of confronting negative phenomena in all their forms,” she says, noting that the goal of these activities is to strengthen women’s role within the university community, empower them intellectually and awareness-wise, and involve students in discussions that contribute to building a society that respects women’s rights and criminalizes violence against them in all its forms.
