Kafrelsheikh University Holds Symposium on “The Dangers of Synthetic Drugs and the Role of Youth in Confrontation” at the Faculty of Education

 In continuation of the presidential initiative launched by the President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi for human development, “A New Beginning for Human Building”, the Community Service and Environmental Development Sector at Kafrelsheikh University organizes a symposium entitled “The Dangers of Synthetic Drugs and the Role of Youth in Confrontation.” The event is held at the Faculty of Education to raise students’ awareness of the risks and harms of psychoactive substances, correct misconceptions among youth about drugs, and highlight the importance of prevention.

Prof. Ismail Ismail Ibrahim, Acting President of Kafrelsheikh University, confirms that the aim of these seminars is to educate students about the dangers of addiction and drugs, their types, methods of prevention, and available treatment options. This falls within the national plan to combat addiction and drug abuse, in cooperation with the Fund, as part of the State’s efforts to build human capacity and safeguard the health and well-being of citizens. He confirms that addiction leads to the loss and waste of human resources and negatively affects work and productivity, while combating it contributes to protecting both individuals and society from this grave danger.

Otherwise, Prof. Amany Shaker, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, confirms the university’s keenness to implement cultural and awareness programs to spread knowledge of the harms and dangers of drugs, correct misconceptions, and foster community participation in line with the national plan to combat drug abuse. She also praises the fruitful cooperation between the university and the Drug Control Fund.

The symposium addresses several topics, including:

Definition of psychoactive substances.

The harm of drugs to the individual.

The harm of drugs to the family and society.

The role of youth in confronting drug-related problems.

The efforts exerted by the Egyptian State in combating drugs.

Early detection of addiction.

Mechanisms of dealing with addicts.

The impact of drugs on societal progress and state-building.

 

The therapeutic role of the Addiction Treatment and Control Fund through its hotline (16023), which provides free and fully confidential treatment.
