Prof. Dr. Abdelrazek Desouky, President of the University, inaugurates the International Middle East Conference on Electrical Power Systems “MEPCON 2022”, which is being held under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Mohammed Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and Prof. Dr. Mohamed Shaker, Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, which is organized by the Faculty of Engineering at the University in its 23rd session, during the period from Tuesday 13 to Thursday 15 December, at the Semiramis Intercontinental Hotel in Cairo.

Dr Desouky says: “It is my pleasure that the "23rd International Middle East Conference on Electrical Power Systems" will be held under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Mohammed Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and Prof. Dr. Mohamed Shaker, Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, thanking Prof. Dr. Farouk Ismail, Chairman of the Leadership Committee of The “MEPCON 2022” conference for attending the conference, which is honored by the participation of a group of engineering figures from various universities and educational bodies, and many scientists and academics in the Faculties of Engineering and research centers.”

Dr. Desouky stresses that the conference is held based on the sense of the great importance of sustainable development, especially in the fields of engineering and renewable energy, and is in harmony with the directions of Kafrelsheikh University, which sensed its strategic role, and focused on achieving sustainability, which is one of the most important pillars of Egypt's Vision 2030, and it also is as an embodiment of the aspirations of the new republic under the leadership of President Abd El-Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, in achieving the goals of sustainable development.

He calls on the participants to produce fruitful results for this conference, especially since its themes solve emerging issues in the engineering arena, by shedding light on the latest researches, studies and technologies in the field of electric power engineering, new and renewable energy, discussing the most important issues related to the generation, transmission and distribution of electricity and presenting the latest findings of scientists, researchers and engineers to develop, modernize and protect electrical networks, maintain their stability, and raise the quality of electrical supply for factories, homes, and tourism and commercial projects.

Prof. Dr. Abd El-Fattah Halil, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Chairman of the Conference, explains that the conference discusses everything related to electrical power engineering, starting from generation, transmission, and ending with the distribution of electrical energy, and the associated means of control, methods of raising efficiency, and means of prevention, adding that the conference includes a large number of scientific sessions to discuss accepted researches after arbitration, in addition to several lectures given by specialists from Egypt and abroad. The conference includes an exhibition of the products of companies working in the fields of electrical power engineering and sponsoring the conference.

Dr. Abd El-Fattah Helil adds that such scientific conferences provide an opportunity for exchange and interaction between the experiences and achievements of scientific research in this field, which is presented in a scientific manner and in a distinguished framework, and that this conference is the oldest international conferences held in Egypt in electrical power engineering, as this session celebrates that thirty-three years have passed since its launch since its first session, which was launched in 1989, during this period, it was hosted by several Egyptian universities, pointing out that the organization of these conferences is managed by a leading committee of senior professors representing various Egyptian public universities, who occupied large positions and who enjoyed extensive administrative and scientific experience and participated in an active role in managing the conference sessions throughout its history. The task of the committee is to manage, follow-up and develop the conference sessions and every year, it chooses the university that organizes the next session after making a comparison between the applicant universities.
