The Faculty of Physical Education organizes an Awareness Symposium entitled “The National Campaign to Combat Drug Abuse and Addiction”

Today Monday 18/10/2021, under the patronage of Dr. Neveen Riyad El-Kabbaj, Minister of Social Solidarity; the President Prof. Dr. Abdelrazek Dosouky, and Prof. Dr. Reda Saleh, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs,  the Faculty of Physical Education, in cooperation with the General Administration of Environmental Projects, organizes an awareness campaign for university students in cooperation with the Drug Control Fund of the Council of Ministers under the title “National Campaign to Combat Drug Abuse and Addiction” in order to activate the cooperation protocol between the university and the Fund, in the presence of Prof. Dr. Abdel Halim Okasha, Dean of the Faculty of Physical Education; Prof. Dr. Naglaa Ibrahim Mohammed, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs; Prof. Dr Ahmed Zeina, Vice Dean for Education and Students’ Affairs; Dr. Ahmed Soliman, student activities coordinator at the faculty, General Manager of Environmental Projects, Mr Nafeh Hamada Ali, and Director of Environmental Projects Department Mr Tharwat El-Murshidy.

This comes within the framework of the implementation of student activities at the faculty in cooperation with the “You are stronger than drugs” campaign, which is implemented by Drug Control Fund, to correct misconceptions about drugs among students, introduce the Drug Control Fund and to confront this problem and providing appropriate treatment.

Mr Salam El-Araby, supervisor of Drug Control Fund, lectures a symposium which discusses the danger of drug and alcohol abuse on the health of the individual and society and its impact on society and the system of moral values, and that addiction leads to the loss and waste of human resources and affects work and production.

As well, the President Prof. Dr. Abdelrazek Dosouky confirms the university administration’s keenness to implement educational and awareness programs and distribute guiding publications to disseminate a culture of awareness of the harms and dangers of narcotic substances, of all kinds and to correct misconceptions within the framework of community participation and implementation of the national plan to combat drug abuse, confirming full cooperation between the university and Drug Control Fund.

For his part, Prof. Reda Saleh, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, explains that the university administration is keen to implement the national plan to combat addiction via implementing anti-addiction programs within the university within the framework of cooperation between the university and government sectors in disseminating prevention and protecting youth.

 

Otherwise, Dr. Okasha explains the different dimensions of the drug problem, as well as the negative effects of addiction on the individual and society, and the role of the family in primary prevention as it is the first wall of resistance for children and methods of early detection of addiction.
