Postgraduate Studies Options:-

1- Students have two options either earning postgraduate certificates (Diploma) or .
2- Continuing their studies to earn postgraduate degrees.

Postgraduate awards:-

The postgraduate studies in Kafrelsheikh University are studying for Diploma, Masters and Doctoral qualifications lasting one to three years minimum in a wide range of disciplines.

  • DIPLOMA of higher studies
  • MASTER Degree
  • DOCTORAL Degree
Entry requirements :-
- Applicants seeking admission to the Diploma need to hold a bachelor degree from a recognized university or equivalent and directed forward to the Graduate Admission Office (GAO) at the faculty who they wish to study.
- It is generally one or two years taught postgraduate courses that does not usually involve research. Diplomas are designed for either upgrading knowledge within a discipline or preparing applicants for a master's degree program .
- All faculties offer diploma except Fac. of Agriculture.
- Applicants seeking admission to postgraduate diploma of education and specific education are required to attend an interview as part of the selection process and to sit a language proficiency test .
- Only students that hold Diploma with an overall grade Good and very good in the core course of specialization can conduct their studies for Master program .

2-1 Applicants seeking admission to the Master program should apply directly to the Graduate Admission Office (GAO) at the faculty and in the first instance, approach the staff members under whose supervision he wish to study and carry out research .

2-2 Admission for Master program:-

step 1
The candidate must have obtained an undergraduate degree with an overall grade good and very good in the core course of specialization or one year diploma with grade good and very good in the core course of specialization if he is seeking admission to the Master program of Vet. Medicine; or hold bachelor with an overall grade good and very good in the core course of specialization if you are seeking admission to the Master program of Agriculture.

He / she will be asked to take two years diploma (general and special) with grade good if students are seeking admission to the Master of Education.

He / she will also be asked to take a special diploma with grade good for one year if he/she is seeking admission to the Master of Specific education.

The Dept. Committee should agree on the suitability of the candidate and the topic as well as nominating a supervisor who is required to sign the form, to be responsible for monitoring the candidates progress and for signing off the thesis .

The application form should also be signed by the head of the dept. before it is forwarded to the Faculty Council for approval, then sent to the office of the vice president for postgraduate & Research at the University .

The Registrar office of the Vice President for Research is setting up a data base for each student, and takes the approval of Postgraduate and Research Council at the Univ.

Any changes in the supervision committee or arrangement should be approved by the postgraduate and research board at the Univ.

Where English is not a candidate mother tongue, each candidate will be required to take an English course .
step 9
Each Candidate has to fulfill courses in Computer, Internet, and 6 programs from Faculty and Leadership Development programs before earning the degree.

Typically, the Master program can be completed in 2 years

Generally, it based on taught courses for one year and the 2nd year for a research which ended with a thesis except in education faculty where the candidate take 6 months taught courses and one year for a research.

Upon completion, the master thesis will be submitted for examination on any date and must accompanied by a form signed by the supervisor confirming that the thesis has been prepared and are ready to be examined and the suggested examiner committee.

Then, it is forwarded with a copy of the Master thesis (in soft binding) to the faculty council and the vice president of postgraduate and research to be approved .

A copy of the Master thesis (in soft binding) is sent to each examiner and the time required for examination should not normally exceed three months from the signing of the vice president.

The Board of examiners normally comprises two examiners beside the supervisor or supervisors.

 

3.1 Applicants seeking admission to the Doctoral programs have to hold Master degree from a recognized university or equivalent
3.2 They are awarded on the basis of Research with a few taught courses which vary according to the Act of each faculty.
3.3 Typically, the Ph D program can be completed in three years except in Fac. Educ., Fac. Agric., Fac. Art in 2 years.
3.4 The student should satisfactory passes taught courses before doing the research .
3.5 Each student should satisfactory pass a comprehensive exam. held by a committee from 5 to 7 examiners experts in the field of research to assess the student if he/she has a good understanding analytical techniques, research methods , he/she has completed a comprehensive literature review and has a clearly defined research question or not.
3.6 If the student did not pass the exam; the committee recommends another assessment after at least 6 months.
3.7 Upon completion, the PhD thesis will be submitted for examination after one year as in Fac. Agric., or after 3 mo. As in Fac. Vet. med., and must accompanied by a form signed by the supervisor confirming that the thesis has been prepared and are ready to be examined and the suggested examiner committee.
3.8 Then, it is forwarded with a copy of the PhD thesis (in a soft binding) to the faculty council and the vice president of postgraduate and research to be approved .
3.9 The Board of examiners normally comprises an external examiner out of the university and an internal examiner beside the supervisor or supervisors or an international experts in the field of research undertaken by the student as in Science faculty .


General considerations must be taken

1- The oldest examiner supervise the board and plays a key role in the discussion and invite the other examiners for the examination of the candidate.
2- The report of the examiners may recommend the following
2.1 Award Master or PhD
2.2 Award Master or PhD after minor corrections
2.3 The Master or PhD not be awarded
3- A single and joint report signed by all examiners should be submitted to the Head of the Dept. to be forwarded and sent to the higher research office at the faculty.
4- The study mode is usually full time for demonstrators and assists. Lecturer while a part time for other applicants

Application deadline:-

- There are two application dates for the programs, on September and April each year, except Fac. Agric., on Sept. and February. Students have missed the deadlines, they are not able to be admitted.
- Each student will have a student code
- In each faculty, there is a Research& Professional Committee (RPC) which designed to ensure the quality of the research title, the courses selected and the discipline of the supervisor
- Till now the PhD and Master programs have not adopted a Credit - based system

Libraries facilities:-

- Till now we do not have a central library for the university and we are planning to be constructed in 2 years from now
- A well stocked libraries with space for 30 students are found in each faculty with about 10000 text books and periodicals cover several disciplines in each faculty
- The library is opened from Sunday to Thursday from
9.00 am to 5.00 pm daily

Leaving or Absences:-

- Upon the request of the students and with the supervisory approval, candidates may leave or absence his/her research and upon the supervisory approval, registration time can be extended. In all cases must be approved by the postgraduate &Research council at the University.

Registration in postgraduate programs for international students:-

The foreigners who wish to do postgraduate studies in our university must fulfill the following requirements:-
1- The applicant have to direct to the general agency for foreigner in capital Cairo to fill many forms .
2- He /she must have the bachelor degree if he/she wishes to earn master degree or master degree if he/she wishes to earn doctoral degree with a manuscript for each .
3- a picture of his/her passport .
4- recent photos plus the birth qualification .
5- Acceptance of his/her embassy .
6- Financial supporter for his/her study .
7- It should free from infectious diseases (EDIS) from the Egyptian health lab.
8- An agreement from he/she that he/she will stay in Egypt during his/her study .
9- All these documents are prepared and forwarded to the faculty where the registration body will see it and take pictures from the originals .
10- All qualifications (Bachelor, Master) must be approved and recognized by the National Academy Committee for equality and recognition of international qualifications at Supreme Council for Universities .
11- He/she must pay at first 500 Sterling pounds, then completed to 1200 pound if he/she wishes to bind in literature colleges and to 1700 Sterling pound if he/she wishes to bind in practical colleges.
12- Then pay annually the following tuition fees:-

Literature colleges:-
Diploma, 1000 pound
Master, 1200 pound
PhD, 2000 pound

Practical colleges:-
Diploma, 1300 pound
Master, 1500 pound
PhD, 2500 pound
