In the framework of the Egyptian state’s directives toward supporting women and enhancing their rights, and in implementation of Egypt’s Vision 2030, Kafrelsheikh University holds an expanded meeting chaired by Prof. Yahya Zakaria Eid, President of the University, to announce the launch of the Safe Woman Unit.
Prof. Yahya Zakaria Eid affirms that the launch of the Safe Woman Unit embodies Kafrelsheikh University’s commitment to its national and community role, and its belief that building the Egyptian human being represents the fundamental pillar for building the New Republic, and that empowering women, protecting them, and safeguarding their dignity is one of the most important foundations of sustainable development.
He explains that the university believes its mission is not limited to providing distinguished education or producing scientific knowledge, but extends to building character, consolidating the system of values, promoting a culture of respect for others, upholding the values of justice, citizenship, and equality, and providing a safe university environment that embraces creativity, preserves human dignity, and ensures equal opportunities for all.
The President adds that the establishment of the Safe Woman Unit represents a practical translation of the university’s vision in providing effective institutional mechanisms for protecting and supporting women, spreading awareness, building capacities, and providing psychological, social, and legal support when needed, in addition to handling complaints with full professionalism, impartiality, and confidentiality, in a manner that preserves rights and safeguards human dignity.
For his part, Eng. Ibrahim Mekky, Governor of Kafrelsheikh, affirms that the Egyptian state attaches great importance to empowering women as a fundamental partner in the development process. He notes that the cooperation between the governorate, Kafrelsheikh University, and the National Council for Women represents a successful model of integration among state institutions to implement development initiatives that achieve a direct impact on society.
Counselor Amal Ammar, Chairperson of the National Council for Women, states that Kafrelsheikh University is among the leading universities in supporting women’s issues. She praises the university’s keenness to establish the Safe Woman Unit, which reflects its commitment to providing a safe and supportive educational environment, and affirmed the continued cooperation with the university to implement further initiatives and programs that enhance awareness and protect women’s rights.
Ms. Germaine Haddad, Assistant Representative of the United Nations Population Fund in Egypt, praises the distinguished partnership with Kafrelsheikh University. She affirms that the university presents a successful model in integrating the developmental dimension within higher education institutions, and that the launch of the Safe Woman Unit reflects an institutional vision that contributes to enhancing a safe and inclusive environment for all.
Prof. Amany Shaker, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development, affirms that the Community Service Sector continues to implement numerous initiatives aimed at spreading awareness, empowering women, and promoting the values of equality and respect for others. She notes that the Safe Woman Unit will serve as an integrated institutional platform for awareness-raising and psychological, social, and legal support, thereby consolidating the university’s role in serving the community and achieving sustainable development.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Prof. Yahya Zakaria Eid affirms that Kafrelsheikh University will continue to work in a spirit of teamwork with the National Council for Women, Kafrelsheikh Governorate, the United Nations Population Fund, and all its national and international partners, to translate the directives of the political leadership into realistic initiatives and programs that contribute to preparing aware generations who believe in the values of equality and respect for diversity, and who participate effectively in building a more just, cohesive, and prosperous society.
