In line with Kafrelsheikh University’s strategy to expand its international partnerships and enhance its position among global universities, the President Prof. Yahya Zakaria Eid receives Prof. Saad Mohamed Saad, Head of the Department of Arabic Studies at Spain’s Pablo de Olavide University. The meeting is attended by Prof. Abdel Hamid Ghalab, Dean of the Faculty of Languages, to discuss mechanisms for implementing several joint academic projects that were agreed upon during the president’s recent official visit to Spain.
Prof. Yahya Zakaria Eid affirms that the meeting builds upon the success of his official visit to several Spanish universities, which resulted in the establishment of strong bridges of cooperation with European academic institutions. He notes that the university has moved from the stage of signing memoranda of understanding to the actual implementation of joint projects that add real value to students and researchers.
He explains that the university adopts an ambitious vision based on the internationalization of higher education and the provision of a comprehensive educational experience that aligns with the best global standards. This is in implementation of the Egyptian state’s directives, Egypt Vision 2030, and the National Strategy for Higher Education and Scientific Research. He confirms that building effective international partnerships has become one of the most important pillars for developing Egyptian universities and enhancing their competitiveness.
Prof. Yahya Zakaria Eid adds that the discussions result in an agreement to establish a branch of Spain’s Pablo de Olavide University in partnership with Kafrelsheikh National University. This qualitative step reflects international confidence in the university’s academic and organizational capabilities. He confirms that this project represents a significant addition to the Egyptian university education system and will offer international academic programs meeting European standards within Kafrelsheikh University.
The president indicates that the first phase of the new branch will include a range of interdisciplinary specializations that align with the needs of the local, regional, and international labor market. These include specialized translation, business administration, and international relations — fields that have become among the most in-demand due to global economic and technological transformations.
The president explains that both sides also agree to activate joint academic programs offering Bachelor’s, Master’s, and PhD degrees between Kafrelsheikh University and the Spanish university under the umbrella of the Erasmus+ program. This will provide broad opportunities for student and academic exchange, the implementation of joint research projects, the exchange of faculty members, and the enrichment of scientific and cultural experiences for students and researchers.
For his part, Prof. Saad Mohamed Saad expresses his delight at visiting Kafrelsheikh University, praising its advanced academic and research capabilities and the remarkable development it has witnessed in its educational infrastructure. He confirms that Pablo de Olavide University views Kafrelsheikh University as an important strategic partner in the Middle East region, and that cooperation between the two sides will see significant expansion in the coming period in the fields of education, scientific research, and academic exchange.
Prof. Abdel Hamid Ghalab, Dean of the Faculty of Languages, affirms that this cooperation is the fruit of the international vision led by Dr. Yahya Zakaria Eid. It establishes a new phase of academic openness between the Faculty of Languages and European universities. He notes that the joint programs will provide students with distinguished educational opportunities and contribute to preparing cadres with linguistic, cultural, and professional skills that meet international standards.
Prof. Abdel Hamid Ghalab adds that the Faculty of Languages will be a key partner in implementing many international academic programs, especially in the fields of specialized translation, languages, and international relations. This will enhance the faculty’s position as a regional center of excellence in linguistic and humanities studies.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides affirm their commitment to expediting the completion of executive procedures for the joint projects and setting a timeline for activating the academic and research programs. This will achieve a qualitative leap in cooperation between the two universities, strengthen Kafrelsheikh University’s position as one of Egypt’s leading universities in academic internationalization and international partnerships, and confirm its commitment to providing university education that meets global standards, aligns with the aspirations of the New Republic, and serves the goals of sustainable development.
