In light of the comprehensive developmental renaissance witnessed by the Egyptian state under the leadership of the President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, Kafrelsheikh University continues to consolidate its position as one of the fastest-growing and developing Egyptian universities. It relies on an ambitious strategic vision aimed at building a smart, innovative university with international competitiveness that combines quality education, scientific research, and community service, in line with Egypt Vision 2030 and the National Strategy for Higher Education and Scientific Research.

The university currently includes 19 faculties and two institutes, encompassing 176 academic departments. It offers 76 academic programs at the bachelor’s and undergraduate levels, along with 457 postgraduate programs, in addition to 22 distinguished programs for undergraduate students and 37 distinguished programs for postgraduate studies. This reflects a rich academic diversity that meets the needs of the local, regional, and international labor market.

The number of enrolled undergraduate students stands at 77,052 male and female students, while the number of researchers enrolled in postgraduate studies reaches 14,253 researchers. The university also hosts 1,350 international undergraduate students and 550 international postgraduate researchers, confirming the growing confidence in the quality of education it provides.

The university’s educational and research system is supported by distinguished human resources, including 1,268 staff members and 973 members of the assistant staff, in addition to 1,334 administrative and technical employees working within an integrated system to support the educational, research, and administrative processes.

In the field of quality assurance and accreditation, the university has successfully obtained accreditation for 6 faculties, while 4 other faculties have applied for accreditation. It has also secured accreditation for 12 academic programs and 10 laboratories, with procedures underway for accrediting 5 additional laboratories, in addition to the accreditation of two centers within the university. This reflects the university’s commitment to the highest standards of quality and institutional excellence.

In the medical sector, Kafrelsheikh University Hospitals represent one of the most important university medical edifices in the Delta region. The main university hospital has been operating since 2016 with a capacity of 434 beds and 13 operating rooms. It provides specialized therapeutic services, thousands of surgical operations, and medical services annually, with approximately 2,000 patients visiting the outpatient clinics daily and about 60 surgical operations performed daily.

Work is currently underway to complete the equipping of the Medical City, which includes the University Emergency Hospital — one of the largest specialized university hospitals — with a capacity of 690 beds, including 108 intensive care beds and 23 operating rooms equipped with the latest medical technologies. This is in addition to the Oncology Hospital with 78 beds and the Outpatient Clinics Building, which contains 50 specialized clinics and 100 beds. These facilities enhance the university’s ability to provide integrated healthcare services to the people of Kafr El-Sheikh Governorate and the Delta governorates.

Within its future vision, the university has launched its Fifth Strategic Plan (2025–2030), which is based on five main themes: developing interdisciplinary education, enhancing applied scientific research, achieving sustainability and social responsibility, deepening local and international partnerships, and building the Egyptian citizen capable of innovation, creativity, and global competitiveness.

The university also aims to direct 60% of its research projects to serve the issues of the Delta region, particularly food security, smart agriculture, coastal protection, and confronting the effects of climate change, thereby strengthening the university’s role as a key driver of sustainable development.

Prof. Yahya Zakaria Eid, President of Kafrelsheikh University, affirms that the university seeks to become a national model for smart universities that integrate quality education, scientific research, innovation, and community service. He notes that all performance indicators are witnessing accelerated development across various sectors.

The President of Kafrelsheikh University adds that the university’s goal is not only to graduate students with university degrees, but to prepare cadres who possess knowledge, skills, and innovation, and who are capable of competing in global labor markets and contributing to building a knowledge economy and achieving the goals of the New Republic.

Regarding Kafrelsheikh Ahlia University, Prof. Yahya Zakaria Eid affirms that it represents one of the most important modern educational projects aimed at preparing generations equipped with knowledge, skills, and the ability to compete in the local, regional, and international labor markets through an advanced educational system that adopts the latest academic and technological standards.

He explains that the Ahlia University includes 13 faculties offering 27 academic programs in specialized fields that meet labor market needs, in addition to 3 new programs that will be launched with the 2026/2027 academic year, as part of the ongoing expansion in offering future-oriented educational programs that keep pace with global developments.

He adds that the Ahlia University has witnessed increasing demand from students, with the number of enrolled students reaching 3,484 male and female students. This reflects the growing confidence in the quality of its academic programs, advanced infrastructure, and the modern educational environment that supports creativity, innovation, and academic excellence.
