19/5/2026

In line with Kafrelsheikh University’s commitment to supporting the scientific research ecosystem and encouraging students to innovate and create, students of the Nanotechnology and Science Program at the Faculty of Science have achieved a new scientific milestone added to the university’s rich record of research successes.

The students successfully published four new scientific papers in internationally prestigious journals classified as Q1 with high impact factors.

The published papers include:

  • Two scientific papers in Scientific Reports (Impact Factor: 3.9, Q1).
  • One scientific paper in Inorganic Chemistry Communications (Impact Factor: 5.4, Q1).
  • One scientific paper in Ceramics International (Impact Factor: 5.6), ranked among the top ten international journals in the field of ceramics and materials science.

Prof. Yahya Zakaria Eid, President of the University, expresses his great pleasure and pride in this distinguished scientific achievement. He affirms that the university places scientific research and innovation at the top of its strategic priorities, considering them the main driver of development and progress. He notes that the university continuously works to provide a stimulating academic and research environment for creativity and makes all resources available to help students and researchers produce scientific knowledge with real impact.

Prof. Yahya Zakaria Eid adds that Kafrelsheikh University believes that true investment lies in creative minds and young energies capable of innovation. Therefore, the university is keen on providing full support to students and encouraging them to engage in serious research experiences and to engage with modern scientific trends, thereby contributing to the preparation of qualified scientific cadres capable of competing locally and internationally.

He points out that research excellence is no longer merely an academic goal but has become a national necessity dictated by the requirements of modern development. The university seeks to transform scientific research from mere published results into applicable solutions and executable projects that serve society and meet its needs.

For his part, Prof. Magdy Mahfouz, Dean of the Faculty of Science, affirms that this scientific achievement confirms the distinguished research standing reached by the Nanotechnology and Science Program at the faculty. It reflects the ability of the university’s students to produce high-quality scientific research and research outputs capable of competing at both regional and international levels, in line with the Egyptian state’s direction toward supporting a knowledge-based economy and enhancing scientific and technological innovation.

Prof. Abdelhamid El-Shaer, Professor of Materials Science and Nanotechnology and Head of the Research Groups, states that the research papers address advanced applications in the fields of nanoscience, smart materials, and renewable energy. The studies focus on developing highly efficient nanomaterials that can be used in many modern biological and technological applications, including the manufacture of high-efficiency solar cells, energy-saving lamps, advanced capacitors, and ultra-high-capacity batteries. This contributes to strengthening global trends toward clean technology and supporting the Sustainable Development Goals.

It is worth noting that the total number of international scientific papers published by students of the Nanoscience and Nanotechnology Program at the Faculty of Science has exceeded 25 papers in high-impact international journals classified as Q1 and Q2. This achievement reflects the advanced academic and research level reached by the program and confirms its success in building a distinguished educational and research model that combines academic study with modern scientific applications.
