Highlights of the University Council Meeting for March 2026

The University Council, chaired by Prof. Yahya Eid, President of Kafr El-Sheikh University, holds its regular meeting on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, in the Council Hall.

At the beginning of the meeting, Prof. Yahya Eid affirms the university’s commitment to aligning with the Egyptian state’s directions in rationalizing resource consumption and enhancing their efficiency. He points out that the university seeks to implement an integrated model for environmental sustainability within the university campus, aiming to achieve optimal use of energy and water while reducing waste.

The Council discusses several vital topics, foremost among them the development of a comprehensive plan to rationalize electricity and water consumption in the coming period. This plan includes studying the implementation of an integrated project to generate solar energy on the roofs of university buildings, which would contribute to reducing reliance on traditional energy sources and lowering carbon emissions.

The Council also reviews a complete plan for maintaining the university’s water networks, with emphasis on the rapid repair of all water leaks and the establishment of precise mechanisms for periodic monitoring. This aims to preserve water resources and prevent their waste.

The meeting also addresses the study of implementing a greywater reuse system within the university campus to rationalize the consumption of freshwater. In addition, it discusses expanding the recycling of paper waste through the reuse of draft paper (used paper) across various administrative departments, supporting the shift toward electronic management and reducing waste.

The Council also approved a gradual plan to reduce fuel consumption within the university by up to 30%, through rationalizing the use of vehicles, improving operational efficiency, and relying on environmentally friendly alternatives.

Prof. Yahya Eid confirms that the Sector of Education and Student Affairs represents a main sector in implementing the university’s consumption rationalization plan. He explains that the university will work to spread environmental awareness among students through organizing awareness campaigns and educational seminars within the faculties, in addition to integrating sustainability concepts into student activities. This contributes to preparing a generation capable of dealing with environmental challenges.

The President adds that the Sector of Postgraduate Studies and Research will play a pivotal role in supporting the university’s sustainability orientations by directing scientific research toward finding applied solutions in the fields of new and renewable energy, water resource management, and recycling. He affirms the university’s full support for researchers to present applicable scientific models that serve the state’s development plans.

Prof. Yahya Eid indicates that the Sector of Community Service and Environmental Development will lead the university’s efforts in building bridges of communication with the external community through launching environmental initiatives in cooperation with executive bodies in Kafrelsheikh Governorate, and organizing awareness convoys and training programs aimed at raising citizens’ awareness of the importance of rationalizing resource consumption and preserving the environment.

The Council also discusses several vital topics, including following up the regularity of the educational process across the university’s faculties, emphasizing adherence to the academic calendar, and developing academic programs to keep pace with modern scientific and technological advancements.

The Council reviews the university’s efforts in supporting digital transformation by expanding the use of electronic educational platforms and developing examination and assessment systems. This ensures fairness, transparency, and improved efficiency of the educational process.

Prof. Yahya Eid states that the Sector of Postgraduate Studies and Research is the driving force for development within the university, as work is underway to develop the scientific research system, encourage international publication in prestigious scientific journals, and link scientific research to national issues and development plans, especially in the fields of food security, water security, and energy.

He explains that the university seeks to strengthen scientific cooperation with international universities and research centers, which contributes to the exchange of experiences and raising the university’s global ranking. He affirms support for researchers and the provision of all necessary resources to conduct applied research that serves the community.

Regarding the Sector of Community Service and Environmental Development, Prof. Yahya Eid affirms that the university plays a pivotal role in serving the local community through launching developmental initiatives and various convoys in different specializations, alongside spreading social awareness on environmental and health issues.

The Council also approves the appointment of 2 Professors, the appointment of 9 Lecturers, the awarding of 29 Academic Master’s degrees, 18 Academic Doctoral degrees, 8 Professional Master’s degrees, and 13 Professional Doctoral degrees.

 

At the conclusion of the meeting, Prof. Yahya Eid confirms that the consumption rationalization plan discussed by the Council is in parallel with the development of the educational process. He affirms that sustainability has become an integral part of the university’s work system, whether in education, scientific research, or community service. He directs the continuous follow-up the implementation of the Council’s decisions and the setting of clear performance indicators to measure rationalization rates, to ensure the achievement of the targeted results in the coming period.
