Prof. Ismail Ismail Ibrahim, Acting President of the University, announces that the university has achieved a new scientific milestone to be added to its distinguished record of accomplishments. In the January 2026 edition of the Webometrics Ranking of World Universities, the university advances to the 1153rd position globally. This ranking included 83 Egyptian educational institutions out of approximately 32,000 higher education and research institutions worldwide.
This achievement confirms the development of Kafrelsheikh University's institutional and digital performance, and reflects its ongoing efforts to strengthen its academic and research presence at both regional and international levels—particularly in scientific publishing, digital transformation, information infrastructure development, and research openness.
He explains that the university's inclusion in the Webometrics global ranking and its distinguished international position is a true result of the institutional work and strategic planning adopted by the university. It serves as evidence of its commitment to applying global quality standards, enhancing international scientific publishing, and developing its digital platforms in line with the latest global trends in higher education and scientific research.
He adds that the university places great emphasis on supporting researchers and encouraging publication in prestigious international journals, alongside developing the websites of faculties and research centers, and promoting the accessibility of scientific output. This contributes to improving indicators across various international rankings.
Prof. Ismail Ismail Ibrahim points out that this progress aligns with Egypt's national strategy for higher education and scientific research, and reflects the significant support provided by the Egyptian state to the higher education sector. He affirms the university's continued implementation of comprehensive development plans to elevate its international standing, enhance its competitiveness, and prepare graduates qualified to compete in the local and international job markets.
It is worth noting that the Webometrics Ranking of World Universities is issued by the Cybermetrics Lab, affiliated with the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC). It evaluates universities based on several indicators, including digital presence, research impact, scientific openness, and the quality of academically published online content. The ranking is issued twice a year, in January and July.
