Prof. Dr. Abdelrazek Desouky, President of Cairo University, participates in the regular meeting of the Supreme Council of Universities, headed by Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and attended by Dr. Mustafa Refaat, Secretary of the Council, and other members of the Council, at Cairo University.
Prof. Dr. Abdelrazek Desouky, President of the University, explains that at the beginning of the Council, Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, expresses his happiness at celebrating the Diamond Jubilee of the Supreme Council of Universities, marking the 75th anniversary of its establishment, confirming the importance of the role of the Council and the various sector committees, which include prominent academic figures, in contributing to supporting efforts to promote the educational system in Egyptian universities. He directs the need to continue developing academic programs in various sectors to improve the quality of the educational process in accordance with global developments, to ensure the qualification of graduates capable of meeting the needs of the contemporary and future labor market.
The Minister directs universities to focus on artistic and cultural activities among students, and to expand student competitions that focus on student artistic productions, including plays, videos, and performances. He also calls for developing students' artistic sense and presenting these talents to the community by organizing performances of these works both inside and outside universities.
The Minister directs the need to prioritize scientific research and innovation, in implementation of the objectives of the National Policy for Sustainable Innovation and the presidential initiative "Alliance and Development," and to encourage innovation and scientific research to face development challenges, confirming the need to support the industrial community and the national economy, and to prioritize scientific research and ideas that can be transformed into applicable innovations and products that have an economic impact on society, serving development needs across the country.
Dr. Ayman Ashour heads the Ahlia Universities Council meeting, and approval is given to establish 12 new Ahlia Universities: Cairo Ahlia University, Kafrelsheikh Ahlia University, Sohag Ahlia University, Damanhour Ahlia University, Suez Ahlia University, Damietta Ahlia University, Ain Shams Ahlia University, New Valley Ahlia University, Fayoum Ahlia University, Tanta Ahlia University, Luxor Ahlia University, and Sadat City Ahlia University.
