Exams

The course

The course is an educational curriculum that is given during one semester, and ends at the end of the semester with a final exam. The lecturer must inform the students in the first lecture of the course content, specifications and references, the method of measuring students’ performance, the date of periodic exams, correction and examination work.

In order for the student to be considered successful, it is required that he obtain at least (60%) in his total grades in the course, and obtain at least (30%) of the marks of the final written exam.

Semester work:

- The student’s activity and level in a course is evaluated by the sum of the semester work grades and the final exam score for this course.

- The degree of semester work for courses is the degree to which the student's work is evaluated during the semester, and the number of semester work exams shall not be less than two. The assessment may include written exams, practical exercises, research, reports, or any different educational activities for the course. The answer sheets, reports or research are returned to the student after being corrected, with the need to keep a sample or a copy of it in the course file.

- Every student who fails any previously announced semester work exam without an excuse accepted by the lecturer, his grade is estimated at zero in this exam, and it is included in calculating the grade of semester work. However, if the delay is with an acceptable excuse, the lecturer can allow the student to take a make-up exam.

Final exam

The final exam for a course is a comprehensive exam in the course, held at the end of each semester once. It can be a theoretical, practical or oral test, or all of that based on the requirements and specifications of the course. The score obtained by the student is the final exam score.

In case that the student fails to attend the final exam, he will be given a grade of “F”.

The great end of the score

The maximum score for each course in the college is 100.

Calendar and estimates

The student obtains one of the following grades (and the equivalent number of points) in the courses in which he is registered according to the percentage he obtains in the course grades:

Pass and fail courses are courses that are not included in the calculation of the student’s cumulative average, but must be passed with a grade of “P” in order for the student to obtain the degree.

Re-study courses

- The student has the right to re-study any course in order to improve his grade in it, with a maximum of two times per course.

- This is for a maximum of 5 courses, unless the improvement is for the purpose of raising the academic warning or achieving graduation requirements. In all cases, both grades are mentioned in his academic record.

- If the student fails a course, he is entitled to repeat this course a maximum of two times, unless this course is compulsory, then he is allowed to repeat it any number of times until he succeeds in it and the maximum grade he gets in this course is B+.

- Only the last grade is entered into the calculation of the student's cumulative average, and all grades obtained in the academic record appear to him.

Semester average and cumulative average

- The points obtained by the student in each course are calculated as the number of credit hours for the course multiplied by the points obtained by the student according to the table of grades.

- The average Semester-GPA score for any semester is calculated as the result of dividing the total points obtained by the student in the courses for this semester, divided by the total credit hours for these courses.

- The cumulative point average-GPA is calculated at the end of each semester as the result of dividing the total points obtained by the student in all the courses he studied while joining the program, by the total credit hours for these courses.

Example of calculating the semester average:

A student who obtained in one of the semesters the grades shown in the following table:
