The Department of Economics is considered one of the main Division in the scientific system of the Faculty of Commerce at Kafrelsheikh University since its establishment in the academic year 2015/2016 through the unique features and characteristics of the department related to its distinguished academic program that it offers to students with the aim of creating distinguished economic and technical cadres to meet the requirements of the local and International  labor market, in addition to the requirements imposed by the conditions of globalization aimed at providing the graduate with scientific and practical qualifications to meet the needs of employers locally, regionally and internationally.

The importance of the economics department comes with the widening circles of economic activity, and it includes all aspects of life, whether at the micro or macro level. Economics provides the foundations for logical and critical thinking and analysis to identify the material problems of life. Economics also helps to understand the various variables in the economic environment, the direction and level of their impact, and the importance of economic and financial policies of all kinds and their impact on the level of the individual, society, enterprise, and economy as a whole, which emphasizes the importance of specialization and its main role. and inspiration in the community.

The department also cooperates with other departments in the college and other colleges at the university and other Egyptian universities in terms of teaching or supervising master's and doctoral theses.

The department includes a selection of faculty members with extensive academic and professional experience and graduates of the most prestigious universities in the world, who contribute to the service of the educational and community process and scientific research in the university and society. Their research interests are also diverse and diversified in contemporary and modern fields and topics that contribute to supporting the areas of economic and financial development in the country.

The Department of Economics is characterized by linking the theoretical understanding of information with the scientific reality, and focuses in the study on providing new information, raising the level of students and providing solutions to some economic problems facing the public and private sectors at all economic and financial levels.

In order to achieve this goal, the department was distinguished by offering academic programs (Bachelor - Diploma - Master - Doctorate) carefully designed to provide its outputs with economic knowledge and analytical tools required by the public and private labor market.

The study in the Department of Economics includes the following courses:

Economics and principles of financial policies in the first year.

- Economics of money, banking and public finance in the second year.

- Economics of foreign trade, analytical economy, development and economic planning in the third year.

Contemporary economic problems, the development of economic thought, economic development and economic resources, regional planning, econometrics, mathematics, economic feasibility studies, monetary economics, economic blocs and organizations...etc in the fourth year.

In conclusion, the department looks forward to achieving its goals in university academic economic education in accordance with quality standards in line with the mission and vision of the college and university and the aspirations of employers in Egypt in particular, and the Arab region in general within an orientation governed by a set of academic values and standards closely related to practical reality.
