Kafr Elsheikh University has achieved the second position among Egyptian universities in the overall ranking of the Times Higher Education World University Rankings for the year 2023

 Dr. Abdel Razek Desouki, the President of Kafr El-Sheikh University, announced that the university has ranked (501-600) globally and second locally in the overall ranking of the Times Higher Education World University Rankings. The university also ranked (601-800) globally and fifth locally in the Times Higher Education ranking for Sustainable Development Goals.

Dr. Abdel Razek Desouki stated that the university ranked (301-400) in the overall ranking of the Times Higher Education in the fields of veterinary medicine, life sciences, physical sciences, and engineering. It also ranked (501-600) in the field of clinical health.

Furthermore, the President of Kafr El-Sheikh University stated that in terms of the university's ranking within each Sustainable Development Goals category, the university ranked (201-300) in the second goal related to zero hunger, the sixth goal related to clean water and sanitation, the twelfth goal related to responsible consumption and production, the thirteenth goal related to climate action, the fourteenth goal related to life below water, and the fifteenth goal related to life on land.

The university also ranked (401-600) in the first goal related to no poverty, the seventh goal related to affordable and clean energy, the ninth goal related to industry, innovation, and infrastructure, the tenth goal related to reduced inequalities, the eleventh goal related to sustainable cities and communities, and the seventeenth goal related to partnerships for the goals.

Additionally, the university ranked (801-1000) in the fifth goal related to gender equality and the eighth goal related to decent work and economic growth.

The university president stated that the Times Higher Education ranking is one of the best global rankings and relies on key indicators that include several detailed sub-criteria in areas such as educational environment, scientific research (publications, research income, and reputation), citations, international outlook (faculty, students, and research), and industry income (knowledge transfer, innovations, and patents).

Dr. Abdel Razek Desouki, the President of the university, praised the university's achievements and progress in the Times Higher Education global ranking for 2023, emphasizing the university's focus on developing the research system and supporting researchers with the necessary resources to increase the number of research projects and international participation to achieve advanced positions in international rankings across various fields.

He affirmed that this ranking is a strong international recognition of the university's development in education and scientific research, and it contributes significantly to improving the international reputation of the university, as well as Egypt's reputation in higher education and scientific research in general.

Dr. Ismail El-Qen, the Vice President of the university for Graduate Studies and Research, stated that the Times Higher Education ranking reflects the institution's commitment, as classified, to support the United Nations' seventeenth Sustainable Development Goal in the fields of education, scientific research, knowledge transfer, and its internal practices. The ranking relies on a set of indicators across three domains: published scientific research in international journals and publications over the past five years, awareness activities, and the administration and supervision of achieving Sustainable Development Goals.
