The Department of Genetics contributes to prepare human resources specialists in genetics and biotechnology and its applications. Many of them enrolled as lecturers at various Egyptian universities or researchers in various research centers, others become professors and researchers in different universities, even worldwide. 

The study in the department was developed to keep up the great development in various sciences, especially in the field of molecular genetics and genetic engineering.

The department has finished many researches and dissertations and has been involved in several research projects and conferences that serve the environment and improve agricultural crops. Advanced and accredited laboratories have been established in the field of biotechnology and genetic engineering to serve graduate students, undergraduate students, faculty members and their assistants at the college, university, research centers and community level.
