| Abstract | The main objective of this paper was to identify the role priorities of agricultural extension to extension centers at Kafr Elsheikh Governorate in the protection of water irrigation field. A systematic random sample of 228 respondents was personally interviewed by using a questionnaire to collect the data.
The priorities of extension role to extension centers at protection of the water irrigation field were measured as a dependent variable depends on knowledge of the farmers. The discriminante analysis technique was used to compare between the three groups of the dependent variable. That is, high important priorities HIP, moderate important priorities MIP, and low important priorities LIP consedring nine discriminating variables.
The results inducated that there were about 59% of respondents had low and moderate knowledge level in protection of the water irrigation field. Also, there were significant differences between the respondents of HIP, MIP, and LIP groups regarding five discreminanting variables.
The discriminating variables explained about 23 % of the discrimination between the important levels of role priorities, the coefficient of Wilks' Lambda )0.768) and it's significance level (0.001) indicated that the independent variables successfully differentiated between the three groups of extension roles priorities to extension centers at protection of the water irrigation field. Finally, the classification results revealed that about 54.4% of the studied respondents were correctly classified in three groups of role priorities as a priorities groups of HIP, MIP, and LIP groups according to the discriminating variables. The probability of group membership calculated by "tau" was reached about 41%.
