Abstract | this study aimed mainly to determine factors affecting farmer's knowledge about ideal using of pesticides for pests control of some crops in kafr el-sheikh governorate.
a well prepared and pretested questionnaire was used to collect data of this research, through personal interviews from a systematic random sample amounted 285 of total farmers under the role kerjcie and morgan , in kafer mager village, dosok district, in kafr el-sheikh governorate.
arithmetic mean, simple correlation coefficient, multiple correlation regression analysis (step-wise) were used to analyze data statistically, in addition to frequencies and percentages.
the most important findings of this study could be summarize as follows:
1- about 94% of the respondent farmers had low and moderate farmer's knowledge about ideal using of pesticides for pests control of some crops.
2- 28% of the respondent farmers were not familiar with farmer's knowledge about ideal using of pesticides for pests control of cotton. while , about 92% of the respondent farmers were familiar with this knowledge's had low and moderate knowledge .
3- 73%, approximately of the respondent farmers had low and farmer's knowledge about ideal using of pesticides for pests control of rice.
4- 45% of the respondent farmer's were not familiar with farmer's knowledge about ideal using of pesticides for pests contro of wheat. while about 90 % of the respondent farmers were familiar with this knowledge's had low and moderate knowledge .
5- 73%, of the respondent farmers had high of general knowledge concerning the use of pesticides.
6- results of correlation analysis recovered that there is a significant positive correlation relationship, at 0.001 level of significance between respondents farmer's knowledge about ideal using of pesticides for pests control of some crops as a dependent variable and each of: educational status, educational of respondent family, innovativeness, achievement motivation, self designation of opinion leader ship, membership organizations local, resources information's, general knowledge concerning the use of pesticides.
7- Results of correlation analysis recovered that there is a significant negative correlation relationship, at 0.05 level of significance between respondents knowledge of some field crops for the optimum use of agricultural pesticides as a dependent variable respondents age.
8- The results indicated that the studied indepented variables combined correlated with respondents farmer's knowledge about ideal using of pesticides for pests control of some crops as a dependent variable by multiple correlation coefficient amounted 0.696 and these studied correlated indepented variables combined explained 48.8 % from this dependent variables variation, There were six independent variables significantly affected the respondent farmer's knowledge about ideal using of pesticides for pests control of some crops which were: respondents age, educational status, degree of participation in extension activities, self designation of opinion leader ship, developmental participation, general knowledge concerning the use of pesticides.
