1.              Development of new strategies in complimentary, alternative and herbal medicine (PG= In vitro and in vivo assay of such herbal formulations, validation and standardization of their activities through bio-guided screening.  

2.              Studying the pharmacological effect of secondary metabolites of medicinal plants (PG = In silico and bio- testing of already isolated secondary metabolites from medicinal plants as well as isolation and optimization of compounds responsible for such pharmacological activities through derivatization and semi-synthesis). 

3.              Assessment of tissue culture of some plants and its biological activity (PG = Application of PTC to enhance production of target metabolites as well as PTC/genetic manipulation to produce new metabolites followed by bio-screening of such metabolites) 

4.              Studying different pharmacological activities of medicinal plants (PG = Either in total extract form, fractions of total or suspected compounds isolates utilizing well established biological models) 

5.              Studying factors affecting growth of medicinal plants and production of volatile oils from different plants (PG = Study of farming  factors as soil composition and mutual co-culturing as well as biotic and a biotic elicitors utilization). 

6.               Development of validated analytical methods for determination of promising natural compounds in extracts thus enabling the study of factors affecting the biological yield of such compounds (Application of chromatographic and spectroscopic techniques coupled with CADD and new biological approaches as serum pharmacokinetics).
