The Launch of the Activities of the First Scientific Conference of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology Nursing at the Faculty of Nursing

The Faculty of Nursing holds the first scientific conference for the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology Nursing at the faculty, entitled “Climate change as a major stressor and its impact on pregnancy and birth outcomes” today, Sunday, April 28, 2024, under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Abdelrazek Desouky, President of the University; Dr. Mohamed Abdelaal, Vice President of the University for Education and Students’ Affairs; Dr. Ismail Al-Qon, Vice President of the University for Postgraduate Studies and Research, and Dr. Amany Shaker, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, under the supervision of Dr. Sabah Abu Al-Futouh, Dean of the Faculty, and Dr. Hala Abdel Fattah, Vice Dean for Postgraduate Studies and Research and rapporteur of the conference, with the participation of a group of distinguished professors from various Egyptian universities in the field of nursing.

Dr. Abdelrazek Desouky, President of the University, states that the aim of scientific conferences is to transfer experiences between different universities in an attempt to seek solutions to the surrounding societal problems and highlight the university’s effective role in all fields, praising the conference in terms of its role in creating distinguished student work based on awareness and culture among university youth, which is the source of creativity, expressing his gratitude for the effectiveness of the role of nursing within society, as the societal view towards nursing carries all appreciation and respect for the effort expended in serving the health sector.

The president points out that the health sector in Egypt is receiving increasing attention because it is one of the main areas of human development in particular and the country’s development path in general, in addition to the fact that access to advanced health services represents a dedication to the basic principles and rights of the human being regardless of his social, geographical, and other affiliations, this care is embodied through the inclusion of a number of reforms, programs, and strategic plans, such as Egypt’s Vision 2030, which included reform in several themes, including reforming the health system, as the strategy as a whole includes measures aimed primarily at supporting this sector so that it would be able to fulfill its role in contemporizing the development process and ensuring a safe and healthy life for all Egyptians.

Otherwise, Dr. Ismail Al-Qon, Vice President of the University for Postgraduate Studies and Research, confirms the university administration’s unlimited support for the Faculty of Nursing by providing all the necessary needs and resources for it and supporting its young researchers, as well as maximizing the use of its capabilities and resources in developing the research and technological process at the faculty as well as developing its infrastructure, pointing to the role of the Egyptian state in paying attention to this sector, stressing the importance of developing scientific research and directing it towards concrete practical application, in a way that serves Egypt’s Vision 2030, hoping that the conference will come out with concrete recommendations on the ground that serve the external community.

Dr. Sabah Abu Al-Futouh, Dean of the Faculty, says that the aim of the conference is to shed light on climate change as a major stress factor and its impact on pregnancy and birth outcomes, within Egypt’s Vision 2030 and to achieve the goals of sustainable development, and in line with the national strategy of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.

 

At the end of the conference, the participants, including staff members and distinguished students, are honored, believing in the effective role played by Faculties of Nursing in serving society, and striving towards a better future for providing health and nursing care in accordance with Egypt’s Vision 2030.
