Under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Ismail Ismail Ibrahim, President of Kafrelsheikh University; Prof. Dr. Amani Mohamed Shaker, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development; and Prof. Dr. Sabah Abu El-Fotouh, Dean of the Faculty of Nursing, the Faculty of Nursing held a celebration on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, to commemorate the Glorious October Victory.
The event featured a keynote lecture delivered by Major General Wael Abdel Hakam El-Abd, Advisor at the Military Academy for Advanced and Strategic Studies, as part of the university’s celebrations marking the 52nd anniversary of the October War victory. The lecture, titled “The October Victory: A Saga of Glory and Dignity,” highlighted the heroism and sacrifices of the Egyptian Armed Forces in defending the homeland and reclaiming occupied territory.
The celebration was attended by Colonel Mahmoud Salah, Director of the Military Education Department at the University; Dr. Nagwa Gouda, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development; Dr. Hala Abdel-Fattah, Vice Dean for Postgraduate Studies and Research; Dr. Omnia Sobhy, Activities Coordinator; as well as a number of faculty members, administrative staff, and students.
During the event, Prof. Dr. Ismail Ismail Ibrahim, President of Kafrelsheikh University, welcomed Major General Wael El-Abd and expressed his profound appreciation for the valiant Egyptian Armed Forces, whose heroes wrote with their blood one of the most remarkable epics of bravery and sacrifice on October 6, 1973. He affirmed that this historic victory will forever remain a symbol of pride, belonging, and devotion to the homeland.
The University President emphasized the institution’s keenness to celebrate this national occasion every year through seminars and awareness activities that aim to foster national identity, strengthen students’ sense of loyalty, and highlight the vital role of the Egyptian Armed Forces in safeguarding the nation’s security and stability.
He added that the October Victory represented a turning point in the history of the Arab nation, proving that Egyptian willpower can overcome challenges and achieve the impossible. He called on the younger generations to draw inspiration from the spirit of October — the spirit of dedication, determination, and hard work — to contribute to the building of the New Republic under the leadership of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic and Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces.
In his address, Major General Wael Abdel Hakam El-Abd expressed his appreciation to Kafrelsheikh University for its efforts to promote national awareness among students. He emphasized that the October War was not merely a military battle but a historic epic that reflected the will of an entire nation, restoring dignity and pride to Egypt and the Arab world, and reaffirming the Armed Forces’ role as the shield and sword of the nation.
He noted that the victory of October was achieved through meticulous preparation, scientific planning, and unshakable faith in God and the righteousness of the cause. The Egyptian soldier, he said, fought with unyielding determination and deep love for his homeland, proving that national willpower can achieve the impossible. The Crossing Operation of October 6 remains a shining chapter in Egyptian military history — one that shattered the myth of the “invincible army” and demonstrated Egypt’s strength and resolve to the world.
Major General El-Abd added that today’s Egyptian Armed Forces continue to uphold the same spirit of October as they engage in the battle for development and nation-building, participating in major national projects that promote stability and progress under the wise leadership of President El-Sisi. He stressed that modern warfare is not only fought with weapons but also with awareness, knowledge, and work.
He urged students to be role models in loyalty and patriotism, continuing Egypt’s journey of progress with the same perseverance that characterized the October fighters. He pointed out that Egypt today faces challenges no less significant than those of war — most notably the battle for awareness, which targets the minds of youth. Awareness, he affirmed, is the most powerful weapon to protect the nation and preserve its achievements.
In her remarks, Prof. Dr. Amani Shaker, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, affirmed that the university’s celebration of the October Victory reflects its commitment to instilling national values in the hearts of young people. She added that the glorious October War remains an enduring lesson in patriotism, determination, and the pursuit of victory, stressing the importance of educating new generations about Egypt’s honorable history so they may continue the legacy of hard work and nation-building.
Colonel Mahmoud Salah, Director of the Military Education Department, expressed his pride in organizing this event, which symbolizes the cooperation between the Armed Forces and educational institutions. He noted that the October Victory stands as a school of strategic planning, determination, and military innovation, reaffirming that the Egyptian Army will always remain the nation’s shield and sword.
For her part, Prof. Dr. Sabah Abu El-Fotouh, Dean of the Faculty of Nursing, welcomed the distinguished guest and expressed her happiness that the Faculty hosted such a national event. She emphasized that this seminar sends a message to younger generations that protecting the homeland is a shared responsibility, and that the Spirit of October should continue to illuminate the path of work, dedication, and achievement in all fields.
The event concluded with an open discussion between Major General Wael El-Abd and the students, focusing on the lessons learned from the October War and the importance of national awareness in addressing current challenges and safeguarding Egypt’s progress and achievements.
