The Social Activity Management, the Artistic and Cultural Activity Management, and the Scouting and Public Service Management at the General Administration of Student Welfare participates in the “Youth Vision to Confront Extremism” program in cooperation with the Ministry of Youth and Sports - the Central Administration for Youth Development, and the Sheikhdom of Al-Azhar “Al-Azhar Observatory for Combating Extremism” with the participation of youth cadres from university students, under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Abdelrazek Desouky, President of the University; Prof. Dr. Mohamed Abdelaal, Vice President of the University for Education and Students’ Affairs, and Dr. Rushdy Al-Adawy, General Coordinator of Student Activities at the University, and the follow-up and implementation of the Management of Social Activity at the General Management of Student Welfare.
Prof. Dr. Abdelrazek Desouky, President of the University, confirms that the aim of the University’s participation in these programs is to clarify the extent of the challenges facing the Egyptian state, and the necessity of establishing the concept of citizenship on the basis of which every individual performs his/her duty towards himself/herself, family, community and country, and to disseminate moderate religious discourse, build positive human relations, and form the correct national awareness among young people and guide them to the correct ways to express their love for their country and to put the interests of their country above any consideration, and to present different visions to overcome the challenges facing sustainable development plans and build the new republic.
Otherwise, Prof. Dr. Mohamed Abdelaal, Vice President of the University for Education and Students’ Affairs, points out that the program includes sessions and workshops with university students to listen to the opinions and ideas of young people and engage in dialogue with lecturers and specialists in relevant topics related to extremism and extremist ideas, in the halls of the Al-Azhar Observatory to Confront Extremist Ideas, within the framework of the global role played by Al-Azhar Al-Sharif and its lofty humanitarian message, as the Sheikhdom of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif established the "Al-Azhar Observatory for Combating Extremism" to be the first line of defense for young people against manifestations of misleading in the speeches of extremist and terrorist movements and groups widely spread on the Internet, especially social media platforms; by combating and refuting the truth of false ideas and elastic and misleading concepts among the users of those platforms.
The university delegation visits the Al-Azhar Observatory for Combating Extremism and all its departments and the role it plays are identified, followed by a visit to Al-Azhar Mosque and an introduction to its history, the stages it went through and the role it plays.
It is worth noting that the Al-Azhar Observatory for Combating Extremism monitors, follows up and confronts extremist ideas and ideologies adopted by terrorist groups of all kinds, and focuses on disseminating true Islam and highlighting its role in supporting the value of man and humanity, and monitoring everything that extremist organizations broadcast.
