The strategic objectives of the department:

1- Providing the student with the necessary information, skills and attitudes to enhance the concepts of mental health

For the individual, family and society through: -

a. Face-to-face learning activities with students (simulation and role-playing system).

Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing Course.

Communication skills and human relations course.

Psychological stress course (college elective course).

Psychological communication skills (optional university course).

2- Practical training in distinguished hospitals that allow providing practical skills in the following areas.

Identify the different symptoms of mental illness.

Psychiatric nursing care for psychiatric patients.

Psychological care for patients with organic diseases.

Psychological care for patients with addiction.

Psychological care for individuals with special needs.

ü Physical and mental disabilities.

ü The elderly.

ü Psychological nursing for children and adolescents.

Psychological education and increasing students' psychological awareness in schools and universities.

Providing primary care for psychiatric patients in various health centers.

Field visits to places that provide psychological services to the community (hospitals and psychological centers).

Learn about the different treatment methods for mental illnesses.

Dealing with different personality styles.

Knowing the rights and protection of the psychiatric patient and the legal aspects in dealing with him.

3- Training in psychological treatments, such as

Behavioral and cognitive therapy

Treatment with medication and electric shock

Individual and group therapy

How to take care of the patient at every stage of treatment, to identify and deal with side effects.

4- Training on the use of effective communication skills in dealing with patients.

5- Applying the triple concept of mental health care through:

Scientific studies and research of patients' cases

Cultural seminars and scientific conferences

Awareness brochures for patients and their families.

Personal interviews with the disease and their families in the outpatient clinics ((health education classes).

6- Participation and cooperation with health and community institutions and organizations:

Participating in the international conferences organized by these associations.

Participation in providing health services to the community in rural and underserved areas

Through educational convoys.

Participate in training courses for excellence in medicine and nursing.

Participation with the Addiction Prevention Fund and institutions that deal with the problem of addiction.

7- Using scientific research to solve problems related to health and mental illness: -
