Zeta potential is a measure of the magnitude of the electrostatic or charge repulsion/attraction between particles, and is one of the fundamental parameters known to affect stability. The measurement brings detailed insight into the causes of dispersion, aggregation or flocculation, and applied to improve the formulation of dispersions, emulsions and suspensions. Speed of introduction of new formulations is the key to product success. Measurement of zeta potential is one of the ways to shorten stability testing by reducing the number of candidate formulations, hence reducing the time and cost of testing as well as improving shelf life.
