Objectives of Microbiology and Immunology Department
First: Teaching Objectives:
1- For the students of Faculty of  Medicine: The department teaches the microbiological and immunology course for the third year students, and by the end of the program students will be able to:
·        Know bacteria, viruses and fungi of medical importance.
·        Gain the ability to analyze laboratory results and to link them to different stages of disease.
·        Find out how the bacterial culture media work and study the effect of antibiotics on them.
·        Know the methods of diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of various infectious diseases.
·        Understand the basic information about the immune system in the human body and how it works in the resistance of diseases and infections as well as diseases which is caused by the defect of this system.
·         Know how immunological diseases occur.
·        Understand the methods of immunological diagnosis and how to use them in the diagnosis of diseases.
 
2- For the students of Faculty of Dentistry: The department teaches the microbiology and immunology course for second year students. Upon graduation, students will be able to:
·        Know of bacteria, viruses and fungi of medical importance.
·        Know the bacteria that cause periodontal disease and tooth decay as well as important diseases in other parts of the body such as hepatitis, skin diseases, infectious diseases and others.
·        Know the ways of transmission and how to prevent them.
·        Understand the various methods of sterilization and very important to sterilize devices used by the dentist.
·        Understand the basic information about the immune system in the human body and how it works in the resistance of diseases and infections as well as diseases that result from the defect of this system.
Second: Research Objectives
The department aims to conduct research on medical microorganisms and immunity that serve the environment and society.
