Dr. Abdel Razek Desouky, President of Kafrelsheikh University, accompanied by Major General Dr. Alaa Abdel Moaty, Governor of Kafrelsheikh, conducted an inspection tour of the medical city site located on the university campus. The site includes the Emergency Hospital, Oncology Hospital, and Outpatient Clinics Building. The tour aimed to review the latest construction developments.

• Dr. Amani Shaker, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development
• Dr. Ali Sabry, Secretary-General of the University
• Dr. Taha Ismail, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Executive Director of University Hospitals
• Faculty deans and representatives from the National Contracting Company (National Service Projects Authority)
Dr. Desouky stated that the university is racing against time to complete the Emergency Hospital, Oncology Hospital, and Outpatient Clinics, as part of a comprehensive effort to enhance the medical system by establishing specialized hospitals. This initiative comes in line with the directives of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and the aspirations of the New Republic.
He affirmed that construction is progressing steadily and that these new hospitals represent one of the most significant medical projects currently underway at Kafrelsheikh University. Their completion will mark a major milestone in establishing an integrated medical system at the university.
Dr. Desouky emphasized that the dream of completing the medical city is becoming a reality. This project will be a major leap for the healthcare sector in the governorate and fulfill a long-standing need for the people of Kafrelsheikh, sparing them the burden of traveling to neighboring governorates for emergency and cancer treatments. The project will serve all Delta governorates and is regarded as a national undertaking for the region.
Overview of the Facilities:
Emergency Hospital
• Total area: 45,000 m² (Ground floor + 8 upper floors)
• Ground floor: 5,000 m²
• Includes:
o 36 inpatient emergency beds
o 11 ICU beds (various types)
o Burn unit: 3 third-degree burn operation rooms
o Blood bank: 22 beds
o Additional ICU beds: 10
o Dialysis unit: 75 dialysis beds (varied types)
o Surgical department: 7 operating rooms + 2 delivery rooms
o NICU: 30 incubators
o Advanced care units: 30 beds (fifth & sixth floors)
o Inpatient wards: 52 beds (sixth floor), 122 beds (seventh and eighth floors)
o Staff lounges (first and eighth floors): 101 beds
o Total bed capacity: 690 beds
Oncology Hospital
• Total area: 8,000 m²
o Ground floor: 2,200 m²
o Three upper floors: 1,700 m² each
o Rooftop cafeteria: 700 m²
• Facilities include:
o 2 linear accelerator rooms
o Simulation room for tumor localization
o 3 radiology rooms (CT – MRI – X-ray)
o 38 chemotherapy beds
o Total bed capacity: 76
o 3 outpatient clinics
o Seminar hall for 135 attendees
o General services (gas rooms – electric generator rooms – pharmacy – ticket hall)
• Medical equipment has already been contracted.
Outpatient Clinics Building
• Total area: 20,000 m²
o Ground floor and 8 upper floors
o Floor space per level: 2,200 m²
• Facilities include:
o 48 specialized clinics
o 2 radiology rooms (ultrasound – X-ray)
o 12 lecture halls (100 seats each; total capacity 1,200)
o 4 doctors’ lounges
o 12 dissection rooms
o Central utilities: pharmacy, laboratories, administrative offices, and power infrastructure.
