The Chest Diseases Department at the Faculty of Medicine – Kafrelsheikh University organized its Third Annual Scientific Conference, titled “Updates in Pulmonology”, at Tulip Hotel, Alexandria, on Thursday and Friday, October 10–11, under the patronage of:

The conference featured the participation of an elite group of professors of chest diseases and department heads from leading Egyptian universities including Cairo, Ain Shams, Alexandria, Mansoura, Tanta, Zagazig, Assiut, and the Military Academy, as well as pulmonologists from Kafr El-Sheikh Governorate.
The conference was chaired by Prof. Hani Hussein, Professor and Head of the Chest Diseases Department, Faculty of Medicine – Kafrelsheikh University.
Prof. Mohamed Hantira, Professor of Chest Diseases and Vice Dean for Postgraduate Studies at Tanta University, served as the Honorary President of the Conference.

The conference reflects the university’s commitment to building a healthy society aligned with the highest standards of medical advancement.
At the conference’s opening, Prof. Hani Hussein welcomed the guests, expressing hope that the conference would contribute to the scientific advancement of the university and the healthcare sector through the exchange of expertise, the adoption of modern diagnostic and treatment techniques, and the promotion of safe clinical practices in pulmonology.
Prof. Mohamed Hantira, as honorary president, praised the department’s long-standing role in serving the community and shared reflections on its establishment and progress.
Prof. Ismail El-Qen delivered warm greetings to the guests and proudly announced that Kafrelsheikh University had ranked first in the Times Higher Education (THE) regional ranking in the field of scientific research.
Prof. Mohamed Abdel-Aal, on behalf of the University President, conveyed his gratitude to the attendees and urged continued collaboration and excellence in medical sciences and community service.
As part of the event, a special tribute was held to honor the late Prof. Hassan El-Sayed Galal, founder of the Genetics Department at the Faculty of Agriculture, Kafrelsheikh University. The memorial was attended by senior university officials and conference leaders, and the honorary shield was received on behalf of the family by Prof. Iman Hassan Galal, his daughter. The tribute was a recognition of his lasting legacy, moral integrity, and scientific impact.
Distinguished professors of chest diseases from various Egyptian universities and the military medical service were also honored for their significant contributions to the advancement of pulmonology at the regional and international levels.

Regular follow-ups for patients with chronic chest diseases to ensure proper treatment and reduce complications.

Limiting unnecessary antibiotic use to reduce the spread of infectious diseases.

Reviewing current literature and updated guidelines for asthma, COPD, and pulmonary fibrosis.

Updating clinical protocols for treating pneumothorax, malignant pleural effusions, and implementing biological therapies in pulmonary care.

Strengthening collaboration between university departments and the Egyptian Ministry of Health.

Encouraging scientific research and continuous exploration of new developments in the field.

Maintaining the active participation of the Faculty of Medicine – Kafrelsheikh University in annual conferences and training workshops.
