The Scientific Day of the Orthopedic Surgery Department was held on Thursday, January 23, 2025, at the Faculty Conference Hall,
under the theme: "Fracture-Related Infection",
in collaboration with the Swiss Orthopedic Association – represented by the Egyptian delegation – due to the importance of the topic in the field of orthopedic surgery.

The event provided valuable information on prevention and treatment of purulent (infectious) complications associated with fractures. It benefited both physicians and nursing staff, aligning with the university hospital's quality improvement goals—especially in surgical procedures, sterilization protocols, equipment usage, and operating room standards.
The aim is to reduce the incidence of postoperative infections, which represent a high treatment cost and a significant health burden on patients.

Esteemed orthopedic surgery professors from various Egyptian universities, representing the Egyptian team of the Swiss Orthopedic Association, gave lectures and led scientific discussions. The speakers included:

  • Prof. Abdel Hakim Abdullah – President of the Egyptian Orthopedic Association

  • Prof. Osama Farouk – Assiut University

  • Prof. Hossam Abou Beh – Assiut University

  • Prof. Mahmoud Badran – Assiut University

  • Prof. Ahmed Rami – Helwan University

  • Prof. Mahmoud Hashish – Alexandria University

The event was attended by faculty members and staff from the Orthopedic Department, who participated in the rich and insightful scientific discussions.
