The second annual conference of the Department of General Surgery was held in the conference hall of the Faculty of Medicine on August 24 and 26, 2023, headed by Professor Dr. Khaled Ismail and in cooperation with the Egyptian Pediatric Surgery Society and the Egyptian Society of Surgeons.
On its first day, the conference included a discussion of some important topics in pediatric surgery, such as the complications of male circumcision, laparoscopic fixation of the undescended testicle, surgeries to repair congenital colon defects, and chronic constipation, with the participation of a large number of prominent figures and professors of pediatric surgery from all universities in Egypt.
On its first day, the conference included a workshop and a live broadcast from the operating room to laparoscopically repair cases of esophageal reflux and hiatal hernia in children.
On the second day of the conference, two lengthy sessions were held to discuss the best way to deal with the diagnosis and treatment of thyroid tumors, as well as the diagnosis and treatment of complications of morbid obesity operations, with the participation of a large number of prominent figures and professors of general surgery, oncology, and endoscopy.
Also, on the sidelines of the first day, the memory of some of the late professors of pediatric surgery was honored, namely Prof. Dr. Ahmed Medhat Zaki and Prof. Dr. Abdel Wahab Al-Aqabi, and also our evacuated and ever-giving professors were honored, Prof. Dr. Sameh Abdel-Hay, Prof. Dr. Hamada Daoud, and Prof. Dr. Issam Al-Halabi
