Prof. Yahya Zakaria Eid, President of Kafrelsheikh University, concludes his scientific visit to the Kingdom of Spain with a visit to the Complutense University of Madrid (Universidad Complutense de Madrid), one of the oldest and largest public universities in Spain and Europe. Founded in 1293, it enjoys a prestigious academic and research standing worldwide, particularly in the fields of medicine, dentistry, humanities, and law.
The meeting witnesses extensive discussions on strengthening academic and research cooperation between the two universities. Both sides agree to activate the Erasmus programs for student and faculty exchange, cooperate in submitting projects under Horizon Europe — especially in the fields of medicine, languages, artificial intelligence, and agriculture — and begin preparing a comprehensive Memorandum of Understanding covering various areas of mutual interest.
Prof. Yahya Zakaria Eid affirms that this visit represents an important milestone in Kafrelsheikh University’s strategy to expand its international partnerships with globally ranked universities. He notes that the university operates according to a clear vision aimed at providing international educational and research opportunities for its students and researchers, and transferring best academic practices to the university to enhance its competitiveness regionally and internationally.
He adds that the university is working to build a strategic network of international partnerships with the world’s oldest and most prestigious universities. This provides real opportunities for students and faculty members to engage in learning, training, and joint scientific research, while enhancing Kafrelsheikh University’s presence on the global higher education map, in line with Egypt’s Vision 2030.
For her part, María del Rosario Cristóbal, Vice President for International Relations, welcomes the cooperation with Kafrelsheikh University. She confirms that the Spanish university attaches great importance to expanding its network of international partners and views Kafrelsheikh University as a promising academic partner with distinguished scientific and research capabilities. She expresses her aspiration to quickly complete the procedures for signing the Memorandum of Understanding and begin implementing joint cooperation programs.
María José Serna, Head of International Relations, also affirms that the meeting reflects strong alignment between both sides regarding cooperation priorities, particularly in academic exchange programs and joint European projects. She noted that this cooperation will open new horizons for students and researchers at both universities to benefit from international experiences and exchange knowledge and scientific expertise.
This visit is held at the conclusion of an intensive scientific tour by the President of Kafrelsheikh University to several Spanish universities. The tour aims to strengthen the university’s international presence, expand academic and research cooperation, and open new horizons for global partnerships that support the quality of education and scientific research, while contributing to the preparation of graduates equipped with skills to compete in the international job market.
