Prof. Yahya Eid, President of the University, attends the annual celebration of the founding of the honorable Al-Azhar Mosque for the year 1447– 2026, which is held at the Cultural Complex in the city of Kafrelsheikh, on the occasion of the passage of (1086) years since its establishment on (7 Ramadan 361 – 21 June 972).
The celebration activities begins with the playing of the Egyptian national anthem, followed by the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran. Then, a documentary film is screened covering the history of the establishment of the honorable Al-Azhar and its extended civilizational and scientific role for more than a thousand years. This is followed by several speeches that confirm Al-Azhar’s established status as a religious and scientific authority and its role in spreading the values of peace and peaceful coexistence.
In his speech, Eng Ibrahim Makki, Governor of Kafrelsheikh, extends congratulations to the scholars of the honorable Al-Azhar and all those present on the occasion of the blessed month of Ramadan. He prays to Allah that it return to our dear Egypt with security, safety, goodness, and prosperity. He also expresses deep appreciation to His Eminence the Grand Imam Dr. Ahmed El-Tayeb, Sheikh of Al-Azhar, for his national role in entrenching the values of moderation and dialogue.
Prof. Yahya Eid, President of the University, affirms that the University’s participation in this auspicious occasion reflects the deep historical and scientific ties between the University and the honorable Al-Azhar, considering it a beacon of moderate knowledge and the intellectual fortress of the nation across the ages. He points out that Al-Azhar represents a symbol of tolerance and a global platform for spreading moderate thought.
Prof. Yahya Eid also extends his heartfelt congratulations to His Eminence the Grand Imam Dr. Ahmed El-Tayeb, Sheikh of Al-Azhar, to the scholars of the honorable Al-Azhar, and to all those present, on the anniversary of the founding of Al-Azhar Mosque and the blessed month of Ramadan. He affirms that Al-Azhar will remain a beacon of scientific and spiritual enlightenment and a fundamental pillar in shaping national awareness and consolidating the values of moderation and belonging.
The President explains that the honorable Al-Azhar has never been merely an educational institution; rather, it has always been and continues to be a soft power for Egypt both domestically and internationally, a global platform for dialogue among cultures, and a faithful guardian of the Egyptian Arab Islamic identity. He expresses Kafrelsheikh University’s pride in participating in this occasion, which embodies the deep-rooted heritage of the Egyptian state and its religious and scientific leadership.
The activities concludes with the exchange of shields and commemorative gifts in an atmosphere filled with pride in the history of the honorable Al-Azhar and affirmation of the continued cooperation between Kafrelsheikh University and the Kafrelsheikh Al-Azhar Region in serving the community and entrenching the values of moderation and tolerance.
