On Tuesday, October 28, 2025, the first doctoral dissertation defense at the Faculty of Al-Alsun, Kafr El-Sheikh University, was held. The dissertation was presented by Dr. Mohamed Saad Kamel, Assistant Lecturer in the English Department at the Faculty of Al-Alsun, Kafr El-Sheikh University.
The defense took place under the auspices of Professor Dr. Ismail Ibrahim Ismail, Acting President of the University and Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research, Professor Dr. Abdel Hamid Ghallab, Dean of the Faculty, and Professor Dr. Mosaad Zein El-Abedin, Vice Dean for Graduate Studies and Research. The dissertation was titled:
“A Narrative Reading of (Un)Translatability into Arabic in Ancient and Modern Times.”
The examining committee consisted of the following professors:
1. Professor Dr. Mustafa Riad, Professor Emeritus of English Literature and Translation at Ain Shams University, Chairman and Examiner.
2. Professor Dr. Adel Afifi – Professor Emeritus of English Literature, Faculty of Arts, Kafr El-Sheikh University, Principal Supervisor.
3. Prof. Ayman El-Halfawy – Professor of English Literature and Head of the English Department, Faculty of Arts, Kafr El-Sheikh University, Member and Examiner.
4. Assoc. Prof. Mohamed Yousry Akl – Assistant Professor of English Literature and Vice Dean of the Faculty of Al-Alsun, Kafr El-Sheikh University, Supervisor and Member.
The discussion took place in a distinguished and respectful academic atmosphere, in the presence of the Dean of the Faculty of Al-Alsun, the Vice Deans, a number of faculty members, teaching assistants, and postgraduate students from the English Departments of the Faculties of Arts and Languages.
The discussion was also attended by Professor Mustafa Riad, a leading figure in translation studies in Egypt and the Arab world, who praised the high academic standard of the dissertation and its significant contribution to the field of translation studies.
The researcher was awarded a PhD in Translation Studies from the Faculty of Languages, with First Class Honors, with a recommendation to exchange the dissertation with Egyptian universities.
