Prof. Ismail Ismail Ibrahim, Acting President of Kafrelsheikh University, participates today, Thursday, in the joint meeting of the Councils of Private and National Universities, held under the chairmanship of Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research. The meeting takes place at the German University in Cairo, with the presence of Dr. Abdel Wahab Ezzat, Secretary of the Council of Private Universities, Dr. Maher Mesbah, Secretary of the Council of National Universities, as well as the presidents of private and national universities and members of both councils.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Minister of Higher Education extends his thanks to Dr. Ashraf Mansour, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the German University in Cairo, and Dr. Yasser Hegazy, President of the University, for hosting the meeting. He praises the university's efforts in supporting the higher education and scientific research system in Egypt.
During the meeting, Dr. Ayman Ashour confirms the importance of raising awareness among students and their parents regarding the admission stages to universities, especially in light of the significant development witnessed by the higher education system in Egypt. He highlights the noticeable expansion in academic programs and new scientific disciplines aimed at meeting the needs of the local, regional, and international labor markets, in accordance with the directives of the political leadership to broaden access to higher education in all its forms.
The Minister also confirms the importance of integration among public, private, national, and technological higher education institutions, along with branches of foreign universities, in a way that contributes to producing qualified graduates equipped with the competencies and skills required in the labor market. This aligns with the implementation of the National Strategy for Higher Education and Scientific Research and Egypt’s Vision 2030.
Dr. Adel Abdel Ghaffar, Media Advisor and Official Spokesperson of the Ministry, states that students holding Egyptian General Secondary Education certificates, Al-Azhar certificates, and equivalent Arab and foreign certificates can apply for admission to private and national universities through direct application via the official websites of these universities. This includes 34 private universities and 32 national universities.
The spokesperson adds that the joint meeting of the Councils of Private and National Universities concludes with the announcement of the minimum admission thresholds for the various faculties at private and national universities for students holding General Secondary Education and equivalent Arab and foreign certificates for the academic year 2025/2026.
For Nile School students, the same minimum thresholds for General Secondary Education also apply.
For STEM School students, the same thresholds apply after recalculating their total scores using the STEM coefficient of 1.25, which is multiplied by the student's total and then divided by the overall score (700).
