Minister of Higher Education Confirms:
- Readiness of the main coordination office at Cairo University to commence operations.
- Preparedness of computer labs in public universities to support students during the coordination period.

The Supreme Council of Universities holds its regular meeting on Saturday, chaired by Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, in the presence of Dr. Mustafa Refaat, Secretary of the Council, and its members, at Kafrelsheikh University.
The Council extends its thanks to the Kafrelsheikh University community, led by Prof. Abdelrazek Desouky, for hosting the Supreme Council of Universities meeting.
The Council expresses gratitude to the presidents whose terms ended in July, for their fruitful efforts in developing the higher education system at their institutions: Prof. Mansour Hasan (President of Beni Suef University), Prof. Abdelrazek Desouky (President of Kafrelsheikh University), and Prof. Mustafa El-Naggar (President of Matrouh University). The Council commends their contributions to advancing the higher education system, improving their universities’ international rankings, and serving their local communities.
The Minister confirms the readiness of the main coordination office at Cairo University to begin its work, as well as the preparedness of computer labs in public universities to assist students during the electronic coordination process for admission to public universities and institutes, with qualified advisors available to support students throughout the period.
The Minister directs the completion of maintenance work needed for labs and university facilities, ensuring the readiness of occupational health and safety tools before the start of the 2025/2026 academic year to guarantee the quality of the educational process.
The Minister also confirms the continuation of the media campaign led by the Ministry’s General Administration of the Media Office and Official Spokesperson throughout the coordination period to raise students’ awareness about completing the electronic coordination process and provide all necessary information through the Ministry’s official website and social media platforms.
The Council reviewed a report on the Ministry’s key activities in July, including a meeting between Dr. Mustafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, Dr. Ayman Ashour, and several ministers and universities’ presidents to follow up the national universities system. The Minister presents a comprehensive proposal for the national education system in Egypt, confirming the role of private universities in supporting innovation, entrepreneurship, and enhancing educational quality in priority sectors for the state.
Under the patronage of Dr. Mustafa Madbouly, a cooperation protocol is signed between the Productivity and Vocational Training Authority, the Education Development Fund under the Cabinet, and supported by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). This aims to support the development of engineering and technological education in Egypt and provide trained, qualified technical cadres to meet local and international labor market needs in electronics and green energy technologies.
The Minister also attends the award ceremony for the 20 Egyptian universities included in the 2025 QS World University Rankings and witnesses the signing of a cooperation protocol between the Egyptian Knowledge Bank and QS.
The Minister chairs several important meetings, including the National Universities Council, the Supreme Council for Technological Education, the Council of Research Centers, Institutes, and Bodies, the Board of the Innovators and Talents Fund, and the Board of Trustees of the Egyptian Knowledge Bank.
Dr. Ayman Ashour launched the training camp for career center staff at Egyptian universities, marking the second phase of the “Be Ready: One Million Qualified Innovators” initiative. Dr. Ayman Farid, Assistant Minister for Strategic Planning, Training, and Labor Market Qualification, presents a report on the initiative’s implementation procedures, university engagement, and future action plans.
Additionally, the Minister witnesses the signing of cooperation agreements between 12 Egyptian universities and the University of Louisville, USA, to establish a joint track for obtaining a Master’s degree in Engineering Sciences across various engineering disciplines.
The Council of the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology, chaired by Dr. Ayman Ashour, announced the names of distinguished Egyptian scientists who won the 2024 State Awards, including the Nile, Appreciation, Excellence, and Encouragement Awards in the fields of science and advanced technology, as well as Pioneer and Women’s Awards (Appreciation and Encouragement). The Council congratulated the winners for their outstanding research contributions.
The Minister honors students who won the “Together” short film competition, addressing rumors and misconceptions, with 211 student works from various Egyptian universities.
Dr. Adel Abdel Ghaffar, Media Advisor and Official Spokesperson for the Ministry, states that the Council approved, in principle, the establishment of five new technological universities affiliated with public universities: Benha Technological University, Menoufia Technological University, Sohag Technological University, Suez Technological University, and Arish Technological University, with necessary legal procedures to be completed.
The Council approves the Visual Identity Guide for the Supreme Council of Universities, to be adhered to in all Council meetings, subcommittee meetings, sector committee events, and promotional activities.
The Council also reviews a report on the Egyptian Student Participation Survey up to July 2025, presenting data on university participation rates.
