The launch of the “Tamkeen” Initiative to raise Awareness of the Rights of People with Disabilities at Mansoura University

 The university participates in the launch of the "Tamkeen" initiative activities at the Delta Regions Alliance universities, which is launched by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, in cooperation with the global (HOPE GIVER) campaign, which is launched from Mansoura University, to raise awareness of the rights and duties of students with disabilities within Egyptian universities, and to provide equal opportunities for them, under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research; Prof. Dr. Abdelrazek Desouky, President of the University; Prof. Dr. Mohamed Abdelaal, Vice President of the University for Education and Students’ Affairs; Dr. Rushdy El-Adawy, General Coordinator of Student Activities at the University, and the implementation and follow-up of the Social Activity Department in the General Administration of Student Welfare.

Prof. Dr. Abdelrazek Desouky, President of the University, states that the launch of this initiative is within the framework of the state's ongoing efforts to enhance the rights of people with disabilities, support their integration into society, and disseminate awareness of their rights and duties in Egyptian universities, extending his sincere thanks and appreciation to the President Abd El-Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, for his full and unlimited support for the file of people with disabilities and working to integrate them into all aspects of life, building bridges of communication with our children with disabilities, and granting them equal opportunities that enable them to participate effectively alongside the rest of the members of society, as caring for university youth and developing their capabilities is a fundamental pillar of the Egyptian state's strategy for sustainable development and Egypt's Vision 2030.

Otherwise, Prof. Dr. Mohamed Abdelaal, Vice President of the University for Education and Students’ Affairs, points out that the week’s activities will include artistic, sports, and cultural activities that bring together all students with the aim of strengthening social ties and enriching the collective learning experience, expressing his happiness at attending this event, confirming that a glimmer of hope defeats pain, nothing is impossible to achieve, and that everyone is capable, regardless of their differences.

 

The event includes reviewing success stories of a number of people with disabilities, their personal experiences, and how they deal with their disabilities, and do not give up, but rather challenge all obstacles with their will, so that disability become a source of inspiration and creativity, confirming that satisfaction, patience and will lead to an inspiring epic, making people with disabilities active partners in society, capable of full integration. Inspiring stories are also presented by models of students from the region’s universities with visual impairment, and the student Mustafa Hamed, Faculty of Law, with visual impairment, representing Kafrelsheikh University, excels in presenting his success story and how he overcomes his disability.
