The Supreme Council of Universities holds its Regular Meeting at Aswan University


Today Saturday, the Supreme Council of Universities holds its regular meeting, headed by Dr. Khaled Abed El-Ghaffar, Minister of Higher Education

 and Scientific Research at Aswan University, in the presence of Dr. Muhammad Latif, the Secretary of the Council and members of the Council.

In this context, the council approves the establishment of centers for the care of talented, and creative students in universities, which include several units: the artistic talent unit, the literary talent unit, the scientific talent unit, the technological talent unit, and the sportive talent unit. These centers are specialized, in cooperation with the departments of faculties and institutes in universities, with discovering talents in the artistic, literary, scientific, technological and sportive fields, and circulating specific programs to meet their needs, develop their capabilities, enhance their national belonging, and develop society’s awareness of the importance of talent, genius and creativity, in cooperation and coordination with the Innovators Support Fund.

In implementation of the presidential directive on linking the scientific research system with the formulation of practical solutions to the challenges facing society in all fields, the council reviews all executive research plans presented by the vices of the presidents for postgraduate studies and research, and decides to approve the research plans submitted by universities, which face the various challenges that confront the Egyptian society in all economic, social, health and environmental fields in all governorates, all of which contribute to achieving comprehensive and sustainable development of the state.

In the context of implementing the presidential directives of activating the role of universities in serving the local community, the council reviews all the executive plans submitted by the vices of presidents of universities for community service and environmental development affairs, and approves the executive plans and programs submitted by universities, to serve the local community in all health, environmental and veterinary and social fields, the literacy and capabilities building, in cooperation with the "Dignified Life" initiative.

Dr. Adel Abed El-Ghaffar, Media Advisor and Official Spokesperson of the Supreme Council of Universities, states that the Council reviews,

in its meeting, a comprehensive report on the conduct of the exams at the end of the first semester of the current academic year. The report clarifies that exams are held in all universities and institutes with strict precautionary measures,

with the high percentage of students attending exams according to the schedules set for them.

Dr. Mahmoud Saqr, Head of the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology, gave a presentation on the initiative of developing future skills and competencies for university students,

which aims to develop skills: (social intelligence, digital skills, intellectual property, entrepreneurship, small, medium and micro enterprises,

self-marketing, building networks and teamwork, and other modern skills). 

The Council decides to open the application for staff members to update their CVs and add new members,

to start forming scientific committees and lists of arbitrators for the fourteenth session.
