Prof. Dr. Ismail El-Qen is considered one of the distinguished academic leaders at Kafrelsheikh University. He was born on May 31, 1970, in the village of El-Qen, affiliated with the Sidi Salem district in Kafrelsheikh Governorate. He obtained his Bachelor's degree in Veterinary Medical Sciences from Cairo University in 1993 and was appointed as a teaching assistant at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Cairo University, in November 1994. He later became an assistant lecturer in October 1997 and worked as a lecturer in Obstetrics, Reproduction, and Artificial Insemination at the Tanta University branch in Kafrelsheikh in April 2002.

Dr. El-Qen earned the title of Associate Professor in Obstetrics, Reproduction, and Artificial Insemination at Kafrelsheikh University in June 2007, and was promoted to Full Professor in the same field in June 2012.

Throughout his career, Dr. El-Qen has held several leadership positions. He served as Director of the Quality Assurance Unit at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Kafrelsheikh University in 2011 and as Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development from December 2012 to February 2017.

He was appointed Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Kafrelsheikh University by Presidential Decree No. 125 of 2017 (first term), and was reappointed by Presidential Decree No. 255 of 2020 (second term). During his tenure, the faculty witnessed significant development in education, research, and community service.

Prof. Dr. El-Qen also served as Deputy Director of the Quality Assurance Center at Kafrelsheikh University from 2019 to 2022.

In February 2023, a presidential decree was issued appointing Dr. Ismail El-Qen as Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Research. Most recently, the Minister of Higher Education appointed him as Acting President of Kafrelsheikh University.

Dr. Ismail El-Qen has played a prominent role in the development of the scientific research system at Kafrelsheikh University and has made significant contributions to enhancing the university’s regional and international rankings.

He is highly respected in academic circles for his administrative competence, forward-looking vision, and ability to manage strategic files, particularly in postgraduate studies, scientific research, international cooperation, and distinguished academic publishing.
