Kafrelsheikh University wins the Second Place in The Times Higher Education World University Rankings for 2023


Prof. Dr. Abdelrazek Desouky, President of the University, announces that the university ranks (501-600) globally, and ranks the second locally in the general ranking of The Times Higher Education World University Rankings for 2023. It also ranks (601-800) and the fifth locally in the British Times Ranking of sustainable development goals.

Prof. Dr. Abdelrazek Desouky states that the university ranks (301-400) in the general ranking of The Times Higher Education World University Rankings in the field of veterinary medicine, life sciences, physical sciences, and engineering sciences, and ranks (501-600) in the field of clinical health.

The President of Kafrelsheikh University also states that, with regard to the university’s ranking within each of the ranking goals for sustainable development, the university ranks (201-300) in the second goal related to the complete eradication of hunger, and the sixth goal related to clean water and hygiene, the twelfth goal is related to consumption and production, the thirteenth goal is related to climate action, the fourteenth goal is related to life under water, and the fifteenth goal is related to life on land.

The university also ranks (401-600) in the first goal related to poverty eradication, the seventh goal related to clean energy, and the ninth goal related to industry, innovation and political structures, the tenth goal concerned with reducing inequalities, and the eleventh goal (sustainable cities and communities), and the seventeenth goal (partnerships to achieve the goals).

The university also ranks (801-1000) in the fifth goal related to gender equality, and the eighth goal related to decent work and economic growth.

The President says that the British Times Ranking is one of the best international rankings and is based on main indicators with a number of detailed sub-criteria that include the fields of: education (the educational environment), scientific research (the volume of published researches, income from scientific research and reputation), citations "influence of research", international relations "staff members, students and researches", and industry income "knowledge transfer from innovations and patents".

Prof. Dr. Abdelrazek Desouky, President of the University, praises the university’s achievement and its progress in The Times Higher Education World University Rankings for 2023, confirming the university’s interest in developing the scientific research system and supporting researchers with the necessary capabilities to increase the number of researches and international participation to achieve advanced positions in international rankings in the various disciplines that are included in each ranking.

 

For his part, Dr. Ismail El-Qon, Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Research, says that the Times Ranking shows the commitment of the institution subject to the ranking to support the seventeenth goals of sustainable development of the United Nations in the field of education, scientific research and knowledge transfer, as well as its embodiment in its internal practices. The ranking depends on a number of indicators in the way it works across three areas: scientific research published during the last five years in international scientific journals and periodicals of the publishing house, awareness activities, management and supervision of achieving the goals of sustainable development.
