The Minister of Higher Education chairs the Supreme Council of Universities meeting at Kafrelsheikh University
The Minister of Higher Education confirms:
• The main coordination office at Cairo University is ready to begin its operations.
• Computer labs at public universities are ready to support students during the coordination period.
• The media campaign to raise student awareness of how to complete electronic coordination at all stages continues.
• The Minister of Higher Education commends university students' interest in participating in the "Be Ready" initiative.
• The Council approves the establishment of five new technological universities affiliated with public universities.
• The Council thanks the outgoing university presidents for their distinguished efforts in all areas of university work.
• The Council congratulates the scholars who won the 2024 State Awards.
The Supreme Council of Universities held its regular meeting today, Saturday, at the headquarters of Kafrelsheikh University. The meeting was chaired by Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and attended by Dr. Mustafa Refaat, Secretary of the Council, and other members.
The Council thanked the Kafrelsheikh University family, headed by Dr. Abdel Razek Desouky, President of the University, for hosting the meeting of the Supreme Council of Universities. The Council thanked the university presidents whose terms ended at the end of July for their fruitful efforts in developing the higher education system at their universities. The presidents are: Dr. Mansour Hassan, President of Beni Suef University; Dr. Abdel Razek Desouky, President of Kafrelsheikh University; and Dr. Mostafa El-Naggar, President of Matrouh University. The Council commended the development achieved by the outgoing university presidents in all areas of university work, which had a positive impact on advancing the education system, the international rankings of their universities, and serving the local community.
The Minister of Higher Education confirmed the readiness of the Main Coordination Office at Cairo University to begin its work, as well as the readiness of computer labs at public universities to assist students during the electronic coordination period for admission to public universities and institutes. Qualified counselors are also available to assist students throughout the coordination period.
The Minister also directed the completion of required maintenance work on university laboratories and facilities, and ensuring the availability of occupational health and safety tools before the start of the new academic year 2025/2026, to ensure the quality of the educational process.
The Minister also confirmed that the media campaign presented by the General Administration of the Media Office and the Ministry's official spokesperson will continue throughout the coordination period. This campaign aims to raise students' awareness of how to complete all stages of the electronic coordination process and to provide students with all the information they need through the Ministry's official website and social media pages.
The Council heard a report on the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research's most prominent activities during July, including a meeting between Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly and Dr. Ayman Ashour, along with a number of ministers and university presidents, to follow up on the private university system. The Minister presented a comprehensive proposal for the private education system in Egypt, as well as activating the role of private universities in supporting and encouraging innovation and entrepreneurship, and improving the quality of education in several priority areas and sectors for the state.
Lieutenant General Kamel El-Wazir, Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport, and the Ministers of Higher Education and Education witnessed the signing of a joint cooperation protocol between the Productivity and Vocational Training Authority and the Education Development Fund of the Cabinet, with support from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). The protocol aims to support the development of engineering and technological education in Egypt and provide trained and qualified technical personnel capable of meeting the needs of the local and international labor market, particularly in the fields of electronics technology and green energy technology.
Under the patronage of Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, Dr. Ayman Ashour attended the fourth session, titled "Human Capital in the Era of the Knowledge Economy," as part of the activities of the fourth edition of the Knowledge Youth Forum, held at Cairo University.
Dr. Ayman Ashour also attended the awards ceremony for the 20 universities included in the QS World University Rankings 2025, and also witnessed the signing of a cooperation protocol between the Egyptian Knowledge Bank and QS.
The Minister chaired several important meetings, most notably the Private Universities Council meeting, the Supreme Council for Technological Education meeting, the Council of Research Centers, Institutes, and Bodies meeting, as well as the Board of Directors of the Fund for the Care of Innovators and Geniuses and the Board of Trustees of the Egyptian Knowledge Bank.
Dr. Ayman Ashour witnessed the launch of the training camp for staff at Egyptian university employment centers. This represents the second phase of the implementation plan for the second edition of the "Be Ready: One Million Qualified Innovators" initiative. In this context, Dr. Ayman Farid, Assistant Minister for Strategic Planning, Training, and Qualification for the Labor Market and Acting Head of the Cultural Affairs and Missions Sector, presented a report on the implementation procedures of the "Be Ready" initiative, the universities' response to the initiative, and the initiative's implementation plan for the coming period.
The Minister also attended the press conference held to announce the results of the first phase of the competitive call for proposals for the presidential initiative "Alliance and Development," launched by the Ministry in February 2025. This initiative is the first competitive national initiative aimed at stimulating innovation and implementing comprehensive development projects across Egypt's seven economic regions.
