Another Achievement for Kafrelsheikh University: Faculty of Artificial Intelligence Wins First Place in IC-SIT 2025 International Youth Innovation Competition at Al-Riyada University, Sadat City
Dr. Abdelrazek Desouky, President of Kafrelsheikh University, announced that the Faculty of Artificial Intelligence has won first place in the International Competition on Smart Innovation Technologies (IC-SIT 2025), held at Al-Riyada University in Sadat City. He affirmed that this achievement crowns the university’s ongoing efforts to support innovation and entrepreneurship and reflects the excellence of its students in providing smart and effective solutions to real-world problems.
This accomplishment came under the patronage of Dr. Abdelrazek Desouky, President of Kafrelsheikh University and supervisor of the Faculty of Artificial Intelligence, and the supervision of Dr. Tamer Medhat Ibrahim, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs; Dr. Mahmoud Yassin Shams Eldin, Vice Dean for Postgraduate Studies and Research; and Eng. Wael Abu Shaisha, the Faculty Secretary. The victory highlights the remarkable scientific and research progress achieved by the faculty in a short period of time.
The President of Kafrelsheikh University expressed his great joy with this achievement, which adds to the university’s rich record of success. He praised the efforts of the creative students and academic supervisors, who provided an exemplary model of scientific and research excellence. He emphasized the university’s continued support for young researchers and innovators across disciplines, aligning with Egypt’s Vision 2030 to develop the higher education system and strengthen the role of universities in serving society.
Dr. Desouky pointed out that the winning project reflects the students’ advanced capabilities in employing artificial intelligence technologies to address societal issues. He said:
> "The project ‘Vein of Hope’ represents a qualitative leap in the field of smart healthcare services and demonstrates the promising potential of our youth in developing practical, high-impact solutions.”
For his part, Dr. Tamer Medhat Ibrahim, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs, praised this outstanding win and explained that the project is a smart application that connects blood donors with hospitals and medical institutions in need, instantly and efficiently. It does so by analyzing health data, geolocation, and blood type using AI technologies. The app also features a reward point system for donors, which can be redeemed for services from partner medical institutions.
In the same context, Dr. Mahmoud Yassin Shams Eldin, Vice Dean for Postgraduate Studies and Research, expressed his pride in the achievement of the project team, noting that the idea was developed in response to a pressing community need due to the shortage of voluntary blood donations. The project aims to foster a culture of blood donation and save lives through innovative and effective use of technology.
The win was achieved by students Galal Zidan and Reda Belal, who took first place in the university-level category of the competition with their innovative project “Vein of Hope”, under the supervision of Dr. Basma Mohamed Hassan, a lecturer at the Faculty of Artificial Intelligence.
It is worth mentioning that IC-SIT 2025 (International Competition on Smart Innovation Technologies) is an annual international competition organized by the IEEE AP-S and MTT-S chapters in Egypt. It aims to support innovation and encourage high school and university students to develop smart technical solutions to real-life problems. The final round of the competition was held on July 14, 2025, at Al-Riyada University, following a year-long series of online qualification rounds.
